Hi Bazz

Its really weird, when I first started the programme, I couldn't sleep at all.

I was constantly thinking about what I was going to do next , planning where I would run , my mind was going ten to the dozen. Then I went through a period where I slept really deeply and felt very refreshed. Then I went back to been a bit hit and miss with sleeping.

Now since I started doing the Jillian Michaels exercise DVD's, I am out like a light. Soon as my head touches the pillow that's it, Im away.

Im like a bear with a sore head if I don't get enough sleep :-) xxx

Bad news Bazza, insomnia is horrible. You don't exercise in the evening do you? Daughter no 2 has a ballet class that ends at 9:45pm and she NEVER has a decent night's sleep afterwards. She says she just feels too physically and mentally awake after al that exercise. If you check out KityKat's latest thread about insomnia due to jet lag, you'll find several suggestions from people about how to drop off. Good luck and good night :)

No problems from me. I recommend lavender if you have got issues. I got some in a spray at a hotel that you put on the pillow and had the best sleep ever

Actually lavender does work. I used a baby lavender bath oil to bath the children when they were little and they used to fall asleep immediately. It was a God send at the end of a busy day and I used to use it myself sometimes :)

Wish I'd known that when my 3 were little ;-)

I can't stand the smell of lavender now as I used to use it (to no avail) when my son was a baby) for me and him - he was one of those kids who would sleep well in the day and be awake screaming from 4pm to 4am!). Can't go near the stuff now!

As mentioned in the jetlag conversation the other day, I take half an antihistamine pill and listen to an audiobook which I've listened to before so I don't have to stay awake to hear what happens next. I spend a lot of nights in our spare bed!

I usually sleep for England, but last night I found it hard to sleep. I'd done a 17k run and my legs were still twitchy. It was like they wanted to keep going!

Do you get really sorry legs? I do - worst nights sleep was after an evening 10K race - had to get hot water bottle to try and ease the pain

Do you mean sore legs? No, not sore in the sense of from skin exposed to cold and wet as I had my long pants on. Sore, as in painful, no not really. My calves ached and felt stiff but they were not painful

"Clappers" Pops, little legs 10 to the dozen. Nah, I wasn't pulling any trees up

Bad news Bazza, I used to have the same problem when I was running in the evenings. Back to morning runs and no problem with my sleep.

Exercise or anything which gets adrenaline/nerve endings going, Silence of the Lambs f'rinstance, is all no good before bedtime. Sudoku does the trick for me. I stare at it for a bit then after another bit notice that it has somehow joined itself to my nose end and there is a big ink dot where the pen has been resting. Time for lights out.

Did the Transcendental Meditation Party ever do a party political broadcast? Maybe listening to the podcast of that might do the trick?

Evening exercise is a no no for me, I gave up swimming coaching classes and dance classes for just that reason, takes me for ever to slow down afterwards. Bazza, I don't know if they are available where you are, but I drink herbal teas with chamomile and such like, I get them in any supermarket, and they work! The one I'm using at the moment is called Snore and Peace!
