Pain, heels and boats.

Had a bit of a nightmare of a run on Sat morning - had to abort a 10km after only 1km with stabbing pain in the top of my foot/ankle. Literally limped home. Can't decide if it was a change of arm swing affecting my gait because of carrying a water bottle for the first time (preparation for longer runs), a pulled muscle/tendon etc after wearing heels and dancing during our company boat party around the Solent on Friday night (quite likely after a couple of rounds), a niggle after lots of miles last week (including a 10 miler on Tuesday), or possibly worn out shoes.

Either way I rested up for the rest of the weekend and tried again tonight. Ran carefully and steadily to start and all felt good. Seemed to naturally pick up the pace at the end for some nice splits. Think I might use this all as a good excuse to go shoe shopping at the weekend anyway!
