The day after yesterday...

Afternoon all! Firstly, thank you to ALL of you for your kind words after my mile interval session yesterday. It was great fun...

As you can guess though I am feeling it today (not unexpected really) and I although I spent most of the day yesterday walking (around 10K according to my FitBit) and was perfectly okay, it would appear that as I slept some tiny people crept into my shins and started attacking them with tiny picks... then they had a go at the ligaments in my ankle too - pulling on it until they woke me up!

Lots of painkillers overnight, a load of ice this morning, compression socks and I'm back to almost 98% now.. phew! Body getting stronger...

The reason I decided to post this here was that although I sped along (well, for me) yesterday we all still need to look after ourselves on rest days and you can't expect to push hard and not feel something the next day... my aches and pains are the good kind but please go easy folks! Warm up, cool down, stretch if you like... keep moving... and don't go crazy... I'm okay today even after pushing it but only as I am slowly learning my limits... I ain't 18 anymore! :)

Long run tomorrow for me - 10k-ish... yay! Much, much, much, slower... and then maybe I'll go and watch the mad marathoners running to Kingston (you know who you are) finish their race... :)

Have a great weekend y'all!

Oh - and good luck for ALL of you in the GNR tomorrow! Rock it team! :)

Hey Aussie; I've not yet seen your Mile Interval Session (MIS) thread, but I will go a-looking shortly. I have commented on GC though. I'll start my weekly catch-up here shortly.

Looks a great session on GC, some brilliant times there! Sorry you're feeling it now though mate. DOMS is a bit of a sod; you think everything is fine and then out of nowhere the aching starts. :-( Lots of RICE and you'll be fine. RICE and painkillers. You settle down and relax and then odd bits start aching, bits that have never ached before. Bits of me are taking it in turns to ache; I should tick them off really like a game of DOMS bingo.

Take it nice and steady tomorrow and cut things short if you feel pain getting worse, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Enjoy your run tomorrow; good luck! :-)

EDIT: LOVE the memes, BTW! I do love a good meme!

Cheers Miles.. It was a hard push alright... Glad I did it... Wont do it all the time!

Its the first time the ankle has played up. Strangely, the knees are absolutely fine.. :)

Ouchy ouch m'dear. Sorry to hear you're suffering but, given the magnitude of your achievements yesterday, can't say I'm entirely surprised. Take it easy on tomorrow's run and look after those legs. Maybe also consider buying shares in Ibuprofen! ;)

Thanks AM... Gotta love the pharmaceuticals some days.. :)

Ouch Aussie but as you say your body is getting stronger and those little fellas working on your shins are putting in new girders. As my friend reminds me pain is just weakness leaving the body ;-)

You are a bleedin marvel and an inspiration to us all don' cha know.

How long did Garmin say to recover?

Hope you feel 100% soon.

in reply toGettingFitter

22 hours! It didn't know about the ankle... :) I like the thought of the girder builders... When I spotted my resting heart rate just around 50 the other day I had to remind myself to be sure to tell BUPA on Monday that I run a lot before they panic!!

Tomorrow still looks good for a long run... Slow and easy.. I'm off the Ibuprofen now at least! Haha..

Sorry to hear about that, Aussie but, as you say, not really unexpected. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and take it easy matey on the 10k :)

in reply topaul2014

Cheers Paul.. All good now I think. Ankle a bit tender but not too bad... Slow and steady long run... And I'll stop if anything plays up... :)

Take care Aussie:) time for a gentle recovery run with Mrs A and her c25k :)

Ahem, coughs... Didn't you up your 5k recovery run the other day to a last minute - run to go for it - feel the burn run!?

Just thinking of Those little knees and little tears repairing themselves :)

in reply tojaxmc64

Yes.. You are right... I shall be gentle on myself tomorrow I promise... :)

Then its super easy week until the London Zoo 10k next weekend... :)

Ouch. Tape up the doors and windows so those little people can't get back in. But DOMS - I love it. Had to google it but now have a 'diagnosis' for what that nasty Jillian Michaels woman has inflicted on me.

Just off to see Jilly now after converting spare sports compression bra into left and right knee supports hahaha! Pops and me , mind the grammar, both had a bounce free day yesterday x bouncing as in jumping that is :)

Lol. I was with her yesterday Sunday is a day of rest - directly related to several glasses of vino last night.

I had to laugh at Jillian. I frequently do! She said the other day that the pain I was feeling was "the fear leaving my body"! Ha ha

Well done Aus. Sounds like you're kicking ass as usual. Painful bits! Not surprised. You're only human after all. Still, if the pain doesn't hang about then that's ok. It's just an ache. It's always such a relief isn't it when the ache clears up overnight or after a rest day. Phew!

I reckon I get more aches and pains doing physical jerks in my sitting room than from running

Oh I am still here.. Sorry ... , I really must go to bed, not hog Aussies post & take a day off and do the housework but what with running and Poppy's thread (yes another plug for that new thread Poppy's set up - Jillian Michaels 30 day shred which the girls are on to - Paul's peeking - come on guys - everyone do it )!

MissW have you seen it? You'll have everyone in stitches with that 'fear leaving my body' got to be there .... What a cracker!

I actually make no eye contact with her - just Nat and nita - especially Nat as she cheats when no-ones looking !

Sorry about this Aussie - one for MissWobble, thank you x
