GPS Running Etch A Sketch Competition.

Hi all! Quick post as it's illegal for me to be on the internet unless it's for research purposes at the moment (dissertation to be handed in in 19 days :/) but I had to share this:

After commenting on various people's routes, it occurred to me that we should have a running 'Etch-a Sketch' competition to see who could come up with the best GPS shape; e.g. dog, train, duck etc. However, someone else has had a similar idea, although it wasn't quite what I had in mind!

i100.independent.co.uk/arti...

Haha, well apart from body parts, I still think we should have the competition.

1) I miss you all terribly.

2) I am still injured (I couldn't complete Doz triathlon, as I can't cycle or do anything that will upset achilles tendonitis recovery :( , however did donate my money to the Fox Project).

3) Normal service will hopefully be resumed when Masters is finished and calves/achilles are better.

4) I really miss you all... and running... and having fun... and life... but, I'll be back * said in best Arnie voice ;)

Missing you too Treemouse. Back to that dissertation the running will still be there when you're ready ;-) Might have a go with the GPS tracks

Thanks GF, and many congratulations on your 10K achievement... just hope it won't jinx you as mine did! So pleased for you, and hopefully we'll see that half marathon training soon :)

Ha ha I think the HM will have to wait. Some more miles and trying better times are on the cards

Yeah, it looks fun with those etch a sketch runs. I need to find a running location with more streets; mine tends to be simple loops around the 4 or 5 different paths near the village.

Hope you recover soon. We'll keep the light on for you, so don't be a stranger. Recover and come home. Pleeeeeease!

Aww, Thank you Tomas, I will be back here causing havoc as soon as I possibly can, but I'm not allowed any pleasure until this blessed dissertation is finished. :(

Please do keep the light on, and have a family pack of Maltesers on standby (Don't let KittyKat007 have any; she always scoffs my sweets ;) )

Ah - surely you could quickly "clear the head" with a cheeky 1K sprint? No...? :)

Missing you here - although THANK YOU as I'm now going to work on weird and wonderful drawings of routes on Garmin Connect... (I'm sorry Aussie that run looks like a complete... of a run...)... Thank you again...

<easily amused>

Hahaha, I love how she described one of the runs as 'hard'! I know; what children we are!

I think that there should be a competition to see who comes up with... sorry, I shall rephrase that; to see who can produce the most imaginative shape!

Nothing like a bit of stiff competition...

Missing you too Treemouse! Was only thinking about you this morning and wondering how your dissertation was coming on. Sorry you're still having achilles problems, thats been going on for a while now, hasn't it?

Love the idea of the etch-a-sketch competiton. Gonna give it some serious thought.

Now stop reading this and get back to work!!!!!! :) xx

Missing you too, Carrie. Yes after the 10K race I seized up and every day I wake up and walk downstairs, the language is pretty colourful on each step down! I have been attacking myself with a roller (OMG that hurts!) and doing stretches. Hopefully I'll be back and at it soon. Right, back to work! Take care :) x

A little peek every now and then will give you the break you need. Look after that injury and best of luck finishing your dissertation.

The trouble is that a peak turns into an hour and a half of mindless browsing if I'm not careful! Thanks RFC, I will get back to it and hopefully the injury will be fine before dissertation deadline. :)

Good idea and I'm sure we could come up with something 'interesting' ;) Hope you recover soon and you're back out pounding the tarmack :)

Thanks Paul, I'm getting my fun by watching you and the others' Garmin activity when I get a free minute. Good luck with all your activities, and I hope to rejoin you ASAP. Meanwhile, get working on route shape! :)

Hey TM....hope you're better soon and back out there.

In the meantime ...look after yourself , get plenty of treats and try not to be all work and no play.....and if that has to be the case...just think of the party you'll have once your dissertation is handed in :) x

Thanks Carole. You'd make a great personal trainer! I liked the 'plenty of treats' philosophy, especially! Take care of yourself and best wishes to you. I hope your mum enjoyed her birthday btw x

Thanks Tracy ,yes she did and there were treats aplenty that week...mainly of the cake and alcohol variety :) ....made it quite hard to get back to ' normal ' ...whatever that is !

This evening I will be mainly drinking beer and eating curry ( how French !) ....can't overindulge too much as I postponed this mornings run ' til tomorrow due to yet another storm .

Have a good weekend ,chum :) xx

You managed to get curry in France?!! Wow, I never managed that in the time I lived there. Well, I had something that referred to itself as curry, but it was vaguelyspicy stew :/ Oh for an Indian in Normandy! What a shame it was a flying visit; we could have had a beer. Or curry. Or both :) Take care, and I hope that Bertha doesn't head your way x

Carolecal profile image
Carolecal in reply toTreemouse

Well , maybe next time ? ...we could even have a run !!!

As for the curry...we make our own ...well, husband does ;) ...we have all the spices etc ,plus the jars of good paste ( for quickness) which we bring over from England ...though I have seen a very interesting looking curry van at the evening craft and food markets they occasionally have here in the summer.

Likewise ,re Bertha...hope she gives you a wide berth...oooh ouch ,sorry !

We' ve had more than our share of storms and rain these past few weeks,so we def don't need a visit from Bertha.

Happy weekend ...take it easy x

I recorded my lawn mowing the other day and it looked very etch a sketch, well like one of mine that is. I never could get the hang of the ruddy thing

Good to hear from you again! Hurry up and finish your homework so you can come out to play!

I can't wait to come out to play MissW, although I will probably get myself into trouble for enjoying my freedom too enthusiastically :D I do miss the camaraderie and banter with you lovely people, and I hope it won't be too long before I'm back. Take care :) x

Haha, yes, get planning that route; perhaps a giant walnut whip! Hope to be back soon kk and catching up with you and every one else. Be good and go and get your toothbrush out; you have a bit of chocolate raisin stuck between your teeth ;)
