Oh happy, joyous days of yore.

aliboo and nicht_eilen are today's last minute entrants - welcome!

nicht_eilen needn't worry on my behalf - I've barely left the sofa since the hot weather struck. It's not even as though it's the injury couch, just turned very idle. Very poor attitude for a triathlete.

If I have missed your completion post let me know.

I've just written to you on another post. Hey! You! Get off of my couch!

Hey! Waletta! Hope you and the aide-de-camp are well in Abergwaun.

Hi Doss, look what's just appeared in my mail box. Well at least it encouraged me to get a password and delve. Aide-de-camp waiting on me hand and foot at the moment. Well that's the theory. Post op currently so can only look on with envy at runners.

Good to hear from you both. Hope recovery is coming on well. Make sure the ADC keeps tending to your every need.

Oh, woe is me and my portable lap harp ..... I've sprained my ankle walking the dog! It's swollen and hot :(

dozzer19 profile image
dozzer19Graduate in reply to I_will

No wonder I'm not up and about if the p.l.h. is on the injury couch with us. Actually I don't deserve a place on the injury couch, mine is the idle couch.

How long do you think?......go on, break it to me!

poppypug profile image
poppypugGraduate in reply to I_will

Best sit down, deep breath............ I didn't run for 2 weeks with mine :-(

Doc at the Minor Injuries Unit told me not to run until the swelling had gone down, Ice it four times a day and take Ibuprofen to ease the pain.

Did you go over on it ? What happened ? xxx

I_will profile image
I_willGraduate in reply to poppypug

My lovely Millie was on the lead and pulled me down some steps. I just landed abruptly and had to stop as it hurt. Weird thing was, it was okay for the rest of the walk, and then, later, (after showing off my new heeled shoes to someone) it suddenly hurt and became swollen. An hour later and I can barely walk on it or move it!!

poppypug profile image
poppypugGraduate in reply to I_will

How strange, well, the good news is that you haven't gone over on it as that can do serious damage to your ligaments /tendons etc.

Oh I_will, what a shame, these things are sent to try us that's for sure, take care and I wish you a speedy recovery xxx

I_will profile image
I_willGraduate in reply to poppypug

Did that work for you? :-)

poppypug profile image
poppypugGraduate in reply to I_will

Yes it did :-) My left ankle/foot has always been a bit dodgy as I fell down some steps a couple of years ago and sprained it very badly, it came up like an elephants foot and then went a horrible purple colour with the bruising so it has always been a bit of a weak spot for me. I am doing ankle strengthing exercises to try and toughen it up a bit :-) xxx

Thanks for the encouragement and sympathy :-)

I will not let this stop me ..... I shall defy the injury couch!

Good to read of such positive thought.

The power of positive thought (and the fact that I'm most likely a big fuss pants) sees the swelling disappeared this morning, pain almost completely gone! Very strange indeed!

Are they like mega-knickers or something. Those it's difficult to get on, or so I'm told anyway.

I would recommend some kind of support when you get back out to gentle running to start with.

Ankles are funny things.

Thanks for the tip. That sounds like a good idea :-)

Come on Sir, you need to lead by example. Get that kit on and get out there before it warms up. You don't want to lose all your hard won fitness. How about doing w5r3. That's more than doable for a triathlete like yourself, then a quick bout of S&F and you'll be back in form again. Go for it, you know you want to ( deep down!) :) I'll even get the bejewelled ocarina out of mothballs and play you a quick fanfare if you like :) :)

Unf I have a very busy day ahead planning military manoeuvres to a meeting with the Queen's own and much included hilarity. Also today I have a lunch appt with an old friend on the long term injury couch. Then the three day manoeuvres takes me to Friday. Will try to fit into my kit on Friday morning. May be difficult after meeting Queen's own.

Aye, pah. Am taking the iron horse north over the border tomorrow so may not be around then for a few days other than brief posts. Expecting you to take charge if necessary.

dozzer19Graduate in reply to PilgrimPip

That's the sort of thing you have to guess or make a choice of your own on these posts I'm afraid. We used to be a top military regiment fighting all that came between me and graduation, mainly a woman in a pink top. Watch Chariots of Fireish on YouTube (make sure you spell it exactly like this). Now we're a lot more serious. All these titled people and objects are friends of yore.

Chin up Lieutenant Spoonierunning (veterinary corps, triathlete). I'm on the i.c. - idle couch. Get better soon - the scout bunnies need you.

Hmm? Do you reckon the Queen lends out her household cavalry to do house cleaning. It's not my forte.

Who me? Sorry dozzer, been sleeping on the couch, so excited with completing the triathlon, overspun yesterday and had too much sherbet. Over did it on the trampoline too, elastics gone. But, I've left the bunting up to see you on your way.

What do I hold the steak down with when I try to cut it? And how do I eat my rhubarb fool? The cake is obviously with the cake forks as long as that lad from TOWIE has brought them back.
