Did the park run this morning , don't know why I do it , but it's tradition on my rota off went to Indian last nigh lagers & a curry but I still got a P.B 33.35 my last one was 34. 09 . Keep shaving them seconds off & the mins will take care of them selves . & that's with legs that felt as stiff as boards l! Happy running folks .

Pacewise , for the 5K , I am at about the same level as you. I started out completing my first 5K at around 42 minutes and have now got it down to 33minutes 13 seconds!! :) But I don't think I am going to try very hard at this time to go any further with it. If I can consistently run around 33 minutes for the 5K for a few months, I will be happy with that. I am going to do some intermediate and more advanced 5K running plans ( as per my "Jenny Hadfield" post ) - but my main purpose is to build up further strength and cardio.

I have noticed some training runners who define an "intermediate" runner for the purposes of using their running plans - as somebody who has been running for over a year and clocks up distances of say 30 miles each week . Well - that is NOT me !!! not yet anyway :). Hence I am wary of continually trying to lower my PB for the 5K , which does seem to be the default plan for most people I know who go to Parkrun -- however I am acutely conscious of the number of people there who seem to get injured quite a lot. Yesterday we had a physio type person there who was showing people how they could strengthen certain muscles and what they can do to relieve some pain -- I felt like telling him to tell those there to stop doing what they are doing every week and slow down!!!!

Can't understand how you are coming in 3rd last in a time of 33 minutes ?? At my local Parkrun yesterday, that would have got you home 117th out of 183 runners/walkers.

That's a great time! I was also surprised with your placing considering your time. They really must be fast in your area.
