done a long run last night of 13.22 mile s was not planned just decided at the 4 mile mark ,having getting a bit bored of going up the river i pushed off in the direction of town trying not to go to fast once in town i thought id carry on to 6 having got there it was do or die i felt good so i pushed on and picked up my river route at the other end somewhere long the route my music ended this i noticed at mile 8 so lucy rose had got me nearly there i change to some up tempo house and pushed on to 10 checked garmin next time and was 12.3 mile s on to the final push and even had a sprint finish and let my lungs burn no problems with fitness or hip just a really nice relaxing run the downside is now i cant run for 3 days maybe a good idea to take some water next time happy running all

Oh wow! What a fantastic run. Just a tad over the half marathon?

Did you start running with C25K and if so, how long ago? It's brilliant to have runners like yourself staying around on the forum showing the rest of us the way :)

I like that you just decided distance as you went, I'm just designing myself a programme and thinking I'd like to build it so I can decide once I start running whether to do a long or short run, sometimes you just feel...good.

yes i started the c25k last september i finished in 3wks ive been dealing with bursitis so i had to cut the miles right down ,after having cortisone injection ive started to up my miles i had done a few 5ks and 6k s 11ks but decided half way through to keep going these runs are great no planning routes or deciding what fuel to take just run i think its also im not training for anything at the moment i done a half in june then got injured so i to pull out of august one nothing now till sep 10k and the royal parks half in october if you want to run longer just add a mile onto your longest run and see how you feel i built myself up like that dont over do it take your time or book a 10k or half to give yourself something to aim for good luck keep in touch and to see how you get on

Hahaha I love how you decide at 4 miles to go further and end up doing over 13 miles! Glad you managed ok with your hip too. Are you joking about the water? I can't go out for 30 mins without mine!! x :-D

I run without water too, as I can't bear carrying anything.

Well done Mo. Glad your hip is holding up!
