...... started at week 4 and am enjoying it. My question is anyone else doing the c25k over rough ground. I am running along the cliff tops and its all up and down and stony ground. I love it the sea views etc.the scramble in places, the walking when timed to coincide with the scramble up. Anyway I'd be interested to hear from others doing it over rough and hilly ground ......

Hi... I started in Feb and it took a bit longer to get through some of the longer runs (W5 was hard) I have run the whole time on forestry access roads and old railway converted to a walking/cycle and bridal way so stony muddy and uneven. I can say the uneven ground strengthens your feet and ankles and according to my recently found physio better for you than tarmac! I added in a big hill on W5 and because of this I did take longer to complete. I found I have been running at a 3.1 mile distance for some time but I went out with a running group yesterday with an aim of 3 miles and did 4.7! Hills do make the flat much easier!
The sea views sound amazing. Scenery makes it easier to run I find. It's a nice distraction! I get a view of Swansea bay from the hill I run (on the way back). and I always see birds of prey and have to watch the dog in case she spots deer. Rutting season at the moment and they can be quite aggressive!
I run in a valley and found when I started that the hills were difficult. I was lucky in that I found if I run along the valley the hills were far less. I love the scenery and throughly enjoy my running because of it. If I lived close to cliffs and I liked the scenery, I'd definately run there. I suppose its all down to what type of runnning you want to do. From a health and safety point of view I run on my own, but I tell my partner the route I am going to take and she knows how long i take on the run.
I have been doing the program on track roads with many hills. At first I was a bit apprehensive but there isn't much traffic and some lovely views. Also when I do run on flatter better maintained roads with pavements I don't find it as tough I know some people who drive to the gym/running track to run but I enjoy doing it this way
I started c25k out on the trail. You need proper trail running shoes! I crocked my ankle badly by running up a hillock when I was very tired. You have to be so careful about your foot placement while watching where you are going. On the early runs, which are only minutes at a time, this is easy. Look for flat bits I would say and leave the hills til after you graduate
