has been very hard
Hi Paddy, it will get better.....speaking from experience, I went down with a nasty cold around the 6 week mark and it wiped me out for quite a number of days, even when I felt well enough to go running again it was really hard.....subsequently I think I repeated week 6 about three times! It will get better, hang in there.....I'm proof it does work....I graduated this morning! So be kind and patient with your mind and body. Good luck and keep us all informed of how you are going.
I found the hardest part is going out the door, but then one day that didn't become such a battle (even though I still needed a nudge sometimes.) each week there is a different challenge however if you trust Laura and follow what she says she will get you there. It has taken two attempts at couch25k but I am on week 7 now. It's also hard when you have not been well, when you go out just take it nice and steady.
As it says on the back of the badge of the 10/11 shirt "Believe"
That is the key to getting through the runs in my opinion. always keep the faith in yourself that you can complete the run and you will.
Don't let yourself stop even if you are running slower than you walk by the finish just keep going and you will succeed.
I started at 19st unable to run a minute and have now completed the 20 minute run. You can do it, trust yourself and you will get there.
We United fans know never to lose faith, we get there in the end
It does get better Paddy, but there will be days when it feels like a real struggle just putting one foot in front of the other. Don't give up! The reward in self-confidence, willpower and self-belief makes the temporary pain insignificant. You also get fit!
So trust in the program and trust in yourself. You can do it....

I managed to go down with a chest infection which was going round the computer course group which I was doing, the day after I did my first run, so have had to rest up. In the last couple of weeks, as I also do other forms of fitness as well, I've been doing them slowly to build up once again, & now I'm starting to feel that I might be able to start on the programme again!
YES it gets easier. When I am really struggling sometimes I try a genuine sweaty-faced grin - I am sure (based on entirely unscientific evidence, e.g. my own legs) that smiling releases endorphins and makes it ache less for a split second (which is sometimes all you need). Hang in there!
It does get easier - trust me. The biggest step is starting which you've already done. You get fitter each time you run, so the better your body adjusts. In a couple of weeks time you'll look back and see how far you've come - you'll barely notice a minute's run. And you'll get addicted to the buzz you get every time you finish, realising that you've pushed yourself a little bit more, and all the sweatiness, the out of breathness and the achy legs won't matter as much.
Just hang in there and take it easy
