My dog of a lifetime, Rupert (hence my name and my photo) died in his sleep last night. He was 15. He'd had a heart problem since last summer so was on medication and constant monitoring. He has left a leaden hole in my heart. RIP Rupert.
So sad this morning after yesterday's high of ... - Couch to 5K
So sad this morning after yesterday's high of graduating RIP Rupert
I'm so sorry for your loss. We have two dogs and dread the day that this comes about. My first dog had to be PTS and I couldn't leave him alone and stayed until the end. They're like having a child and it's heartbreaking. RIP Rupert x
Oh ! I'm so sorry to hear that, what a horrible start to your week. He was a lovely looking dog.
Thank you - yes, wasn't he beautiful. He had the most amazing temperament too. I know we all think our dogs are the best, but he really was the best.
Oh no! Oh gosh that's so very sad, and I'm so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Rupert. I am pleased though that he passed peacefully during his sleep, bless im. You will take time to grieve over him and have many crying sessions but it does get better over time as you reflect on the great times you shared. The house will seem empty and quiet, and I think that is one of the worst things to endure, but you will. He was a beautiful dog and you will always keep the memory of him wherever you are.
I'm so sorry to hear your news. Nothing I think I could say would ever help, but given your user name, it sounds like Rupert was a huge inspiration for you. Please do keep on running, and keep on remembering all the wonderful memories you have of him.
So sorry for your loss . We have a yorkie he's 11 years old and has just been diagnosed with a heart problem & partial collapse of the trachia . He's still quite active though . Take care & think of the good life he's had with you .
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. He was a very handsome boy.
So sorry for the loss of your lovely dog.
Very sorry to read this, he was a beauty, pets like this are never forgotten. x
Rupert looked like a lovely boy I totally understand your leaden heart feeling - but it does slowly, slowly heal. I am sure your time together was very special. My old (he's 14) black Lab sends his love. x RIP Rupert
Thanks everyone. He adored people and had many admirers. It seems fitting that even when he's no longer with us, he should be the centre of attention and being complimented.
I can't imagine the leaden heart disappearing, but I know it will.
It's a day we all dread when we have to say goodbye to our canine best buddies.
I'm so sorry to hear that. He was indeed a lovely looking dog; my deepest sympathies. I have a twenty year-old cat that I love and worry about, so do feel your pain.
Oh that is so sad, what a gorgeous dog he was, I am so sorry. x
How very sad. What a terriible loss of a beautiful dog. Thankfully he just slipped away, but it does leave such a hole in your heart doesn't it? I'm sure he had a wonderful life with you and returned every bit of your love.
Take care and I hope you find solace in your running.
What a rotten start to your week - and what he lovely dog he was. The leaden heart will get better, honest.
Thanks guys. All your wonderful comments have really helped x
I am so sorry, they fill our lives with such love and joy. Take care of yourself.
After sharing your graduation joy yesterday I have tears in my eyes at the moment. You must feel as though your insides have been ripped out. I went through this a few months ago so I know exactly what it's like. Take time to grieve but remember the happy times. I am so sorry that you have had this happen. Be kind to yourself. Best wishes to you.
So sad to hear of Ruperts passing, he looked like such a beautiful and gentle dog. Our dogs are not just pets but part of our families, so it is devasting when one passes away. I hope you can find some comfort in that Rupert died peacefully in his sleep, and remember all those fantastic memories he has given you over the years. Take care, x.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Rupert looked such such a noble and beautiful dog. I hope you can draw comfort from all the wonderful moments and happy times you shared together. All my best wishes, take care x
Gosh, yes, he was very noble looking.
I'm really touched by all your support. I'm just a bit numb at the moment. He was nearly 15 so it wasn't a complete surprise. I just stupidly thought he'd live for ever
He really really would have been such a happy chap to know you all thought he was handsome, gentle etc. he lapped up admiration like a sponge.
Yes, many, many happy memories. They carry me through this terribly sad time.
Thanks folks. I know there are far worse things happening in the world, but I adored him (and him, me, he was "my" dog if you know what I mean)
X
I'm so sorry.
Oh oh, I´m so sorry, but I´m sure you gave him the best life for a dog. Xoss
I am so sorry that you're feeling so bad. Dogs become family and you are bound to be knocked sideways by this event. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time to get over this. Big hug for you.
Rupertbear, I'm so sorry that Rupert has left you and this world. He looked like a right handsome chap and I bet he had a great temperament too. Perhaps when you feel ready, you could make a scrapbook of your fondest memories together and it could help the grieving process but also remind you of the good times and make you smile again?
My thoughts are with you. RIP Rupert.
Just back in from work and read your very sad message, only yesterday I nearly posted to congratulate you on graduating and to ask if Rupert had also graduated, suspect now that he was not actively taking part in C25K.
Having had family pets most of my life I know the anguish you will be going through now, slowly it gets better and there is no disrespect in choosing a new companion sooner rather than later, it really means that you genuinely what to share your love. Both Paws and I are thinking of you.
Oh I am so sorry - it is a very hard time. Thinking of you.
Thank you so much to all your kind thoughts and comments. I'm truly touched. We've just buried him in a lovely sunny spot in the garden alongside his two brothers.
It's heartbreaking, but yes, there will be memories a plenty to bring smiles to our faces, in time.
X
I'm so sorry for your loss.... Sending a C25k hug x
Sorry for the loss of your sweet Rupert. Dogs can truly be our best friends. Sending you warm thoughts.
