Starting all over..

Hi guys,

Been absent from here for i think around 6 months. Had a couple of attempts at getting back to running but my calf just hasn't been up to it. So a dismal winter was spent with joining a gym and using it infrequently as it bored me so much and gradually putting weight on in a bit of a slump.

My exersize has been walking the dogs and hoping it helps my calf to recover. I had my first outdoors run today and just did 3 sets of 5 min jogs with no tightness in calf. Seemed to go well so am hoping a nice easy period back will have me on track again.

Here's hoping :)

Welcome back. I hope with your dog walking and gym the calf is a bit stronger and allows you to do some running. I use dog walking with running to keep fit and it seems to work well. You have to put the miles in with the dogs to drop the weight mind you. It should be no problem if you have three dogs

I've been out with the dog this morning and done just a gnat's under 10 k.

Are you doing the C25 k programme again?

Hi miss.. Not really sure what to do about the programme am not sure I could take the music again lol Will probably just continue on my own but using the principles of c25k. The dog walking does help as does carrying an unusually heavy 16 month old in a back carrier on some walks. usually do 3 miles a day with the hounds.

My main concern is keeping this calf muscle right so nice and easy does it i think.

Great to see you are easing yourself back into it.

There has been a lot of talk here on the blog about foam rollers. I bought one, because I was never really happy that my calves were fully loosened off after a run and stretch. It works a treat. Just a few rolls, and it's much better. Worth the investment I would say, particularly if it gets you running again.

Hi Nerdio. I actually took the roller back so haven't been using it. whether it may have helped my recovery is anyone's guess :)
