Cycle and Run

I've set myself two targets this year, the Great North Run in September and the Ride London 100 mile cycle sportive in August. Clearly I've got two lots of training and as I'm someway down the line for the cycle ride I've been concentrating on the run. Has anyone else done a similar double and did the dual training create any additional problems?

All I can say is 'RESPECT'!! That's a great target... I guess it's about having a good plan and also one will complement the other...good luck!!!

I am training for the Tri together triathlon in august. It's a baby newbie triathlon. I can swim but my running and cycling needs a lot of work. Due to some health issues I haven't even hit a 5k run yet and my last cycle ride was 5km in 23 min. On the flat. The triathlon has hills. So I have a lot of work to do. I have been told that the different training is very good for not overtraining. I did take the bike out the other day and at the end it felt like I had done some strength training for my running legs rather than tired them out so I can quite believe it. Good luck with your training.

There are training schedules in some of the triathlon magazines that might be worth looking into but I guess the triathletes are the best people to ask. There must be forums available through triathlon websites. A quick google search led to this
