I'm 45, female, unfit and overweight. I've just finished week one and I don't think I would have if I hadn't been reading all the helpful advice on here these past few days. I also found the Strava app is helping. Bit scared about running for 90 secs at a time come Sunday but I'll give it a go.
I'm so glad I've found you!: I'm 45, female... - Couch to 5K
I'm so glad I've found you!
Really well done for making a start on this and completing week 1 - you're well on the way!
I've just finished week 4 and surprise myself every week. I always think the next week looks hard but your body will probably surprise you too - after a few aches and pains in the first week or two things soon settle down and your body gets used to things.
I'm really looking forward to each run now and I'd never have thought that several months ago.
Congratulations, you must be feeling chuffed. Three runs done!
Don't worry about the 90 seconds I'm sure you'll surprise yourself. It's great the way you get control of your breathing and all the other things and bit by bit it gets easier. I hope you enjoy week 2. Good luck
Congratulations for making this first step you will be ok with the 90 seconds: you've laid the foundation with the work done so far
Good luck with everything. Take each run as it comes. The hardest bit is getting out there and you've done that.
well done thats fantastic, dont give up keep going ...i was a big sweaty exhausted mess after week 1 ....8 weeks on and im graduating on Sunday ...im the same age same state and i know you can do this !!! good luck and keep us updated
Well done for getting out the door - 3 times! Trust the programme - it builds your stamina up gradually and you'll be able to do more than you think.
And welcome to the forum - keep us up to date on your progress. I'm pretty sure you'll get the support and encouragement you need here, AND you'll be an encouragement to others to give it a go or to keep going when they read your posts.
I am just finishing wk2r3 today and I found it only slightly tougher than when I first ran for 60 seconds. You will be fine. There are 69+ year olds on here who have graduated and that's what I tell myself. If they can do it then I can and you can.
Soon you will be saying you are worried about your first 30 minutes run! Me too - so exciting!
I am on W7. Stick with it & you will get there.
Well done keep up the good work.. If it was easy everyone would be doing it.. Go for it...
Well done for getting started. Enjoy the programme. Week 2 isn't so bad and you can always repeat a run if you need to or if you just feel more comfortable with that. Might as well give W2 a try though and see how you get on. Best wishes.
Well done you! I'm sure you'll be fine stepping up to 90 seconds. Good luck.
I can still remember telling friends that I'd actually managed to run for 5 whole minutes without stopping. After starting the programme and struggling with 60 second runs, I just couldn't imagine how I would ever make it to 90 seconds, but I did. I'm sure you will too. It's amazing how the programme takes you further each week and it really gives you such a sense of achievement when you can progress to the next week. Last week I managed 45 minutes (including some steep hills). It really does get easier and you will feel so many benefits. Good luck!
Thanks everyone! I'm having to save my run for tonight and might have to take children with me. One of them runs 5k with her Dad so she will be fed up with all the stops and starts. Youngest will proably do much better than me too.
You CAN do it 💪
