Advice for panther Ju much appreciated from all you wonderful bloggers:
So now I've done 2 HM's and another in 2 weeks I need a new goal to go for and distract me from life's challenges...
I am considering signing up for the Eden Marathon in October. However I did the Eden HM last year and there is a 220 metre climb and the FM is a 495 metre climb and is equivalent to 27.7 miles...f***
My questions:
1. Is this too much..?
2. Can anyone suggest an alternative one that's small and less hilly?
3. Suggest Training plans that I can understand ( I look at them and just don't understand the words)
Oh and I have a new role: coach juicyju... I'm doing the programme for a friend, her family and my daughter in April so if anyone would like to join us in person or virtually you are welcome ... There will be treats for milestones and a medal on graduating
The pic is my official one from the Bath half...
Happy panthering everyone

Well I guess if anyone can train for those sort of mountains (they are not hills) you can. I can't suggest anything yet on the training but I am waiting for a bluetooth 4 heartrate monitor to turn up in the post and then I am going to give the Pear Sport personal training app a go. It has many workouts and is free. (Some of the training plans have to be paid for) it talks you through your training as you do it and gives you advice on your training zones with reference to your heart rate. There are quite a few that do hill running and intervals. I will keep you Informed if it's any good. As always happy panthering back at you.
Oh wow that sounds exciting... Keep us posted!!And thank you!!! I am thinking of investing in a Garmin as I think it will really help with the training...
Have a look at this runnersworld.com/race-train... -- although it discusses trainng for half-marathons, it has two elements to it, two goals. To me, It is less of a "training programme" - and more of a training philosophy whereby you could create your own programme to suit your individual requirements. And do a search on RUNNING HILL TRAINING google.com.au/search?q=runn... -- plenty of info here although the common theme is that to be able to run up hills, you have to run up hills
Well done on the half marathons. Oo I could do with a coach. What will the treats be? I guess you could do lots of hill work to prepare yourself. May be some army style hill work, carrying a rucksack on your back with heavier items inside the further you go. It doesn't have to be runs initially but fast walking, then add runs as you get better.
ADD MILE TO LONG RUN you have got plenty of time i got up to 14 .after the hm battle will start again ive got a 10k in april then a half m in june parks and rec hm in london in oct need to find a little one for may
blimey theres no stopping you is there??!!!! Thats what I was planning, to add one mile a week to my long run, parkrun, a 10k and an interval session per week + swimming?
I have no advice, but just to say: a) what a lovely picture and b) you inspired me to take my 7-year-old son out for a run over half term. He ran 3K and was very pleased with himself. And I loved having the one-to-one time with him. So, thank you!
Thank you so much... That's given me a much needed lift and cheered me up no end today... He did well didn't he? I hope you can enjoy many happy runs together... Thanks again
WOW great pic! Amaze balls Juju. I don't think my training plan would be of much use to you as it involves drinking vast amounts of decent Shiraz, Merlot, Rioja and Pino Noir. Although historically, you've always done well on a run the day after a blow out haven't you?! So it might work after all!
