Bit of pain on knees and shins after week 4, have proper shoes but 42 and 5st over BMI ideal weight so not surprised. Friends have suggested stretchy bandages, but didn't say when to wear them. During, after it both?

Mine's a slightly different situation, but I broke my ankle a couple of years back. It's now held together with a lot of metal, and I was finding that running (especially in the cold) really hurt. These days I swear by my stretchy compression bandages. I wear them whilst running, and try to get my legs up for half an hour afterwards- I find that works wonders!

I have a friend in a similar situation to you (5 Stone overweight is 32 KGs. - a bag of cement weighs 40 Kgs). He is attempting to run - and I have asked him how he would transport almost a bag of cement. Would he try to run any kind of distance with it? Or would he walk with it ? Of course, the answer is obvious. I am trying to encourage him to only walk until he loses a fair bit of that weight. Also of course - now that he has decided to lose that weight he wants to do it quickly - but it has taken him 60 years to get where he is today - it is going to be a slow journey for him and he will not complete that journey if he injures himself early on in his journey while trying to do something that he shouldn't.
Thanks both, a GP friend at work said I should double the time so two weeks for each set instead of one. I think that might be good advice coupled with a healthier diet. Thanks
