I'm a sevener! 'Snot a problem.

So,shuffling along, wryly disappointed again that my feet and legs aren't made of air, but determined to make it to the end of 25 mins. W7R1, yay!. But found a sudden urge to turn into one of those disgusting runners I've seen who snort snot out onto the road and spit out into ditches!!! Something about breathing through my mouth so not swallowing, and not being able to waste a breath on a hanky nose blow ... I compromised with a sneaky sleeve wipe in the end. Any tips on a more genteel way of dealing with such matters would be most welcome.... Unless I'm barred from the forum for being so gross ... 'Snot just me is it?!

Not just you, I need an answer too having a continually runny nose when I am running or walking!

I know. I'm thinking a special hanky taped to a sleeve...

Thank you. Was pleased to complete it.

But why is actually blowing my nose so hard? Seems to put my breathing all out of rhythm.. Not that it's often in a good rhythm lol.

Sad confession, I have a dainty hanky in my gloves so it's pretty handy, and snotty(Eeew). I usually take the gloves off half way round but it doesn't look as lame as running with my hanky. It's still a faff though. I know it is a very SAD confession.

Not sad Rubyslippers. Dainty hanky sounds good. Very genteel. Running legs is ok , running nose, not so much. :)Happy running to you.

And then of course I Can always switch to using my petticoats. Happy running to you to indeed, thank you very much. :-)

You need to learn to do a snot rocket: m.runnersworld.com/running-...

Then finish with a wee wipe on your sleeve, gloves or cloth hankie.

I've done them for years when hiking in places with no access to rubbish bins for used tissues and/or little water for washing cloth hankies.

Haha. That's brilliant swanscot! Can't wait to try it. Will report back.., or maybe not. Thank you.

This is my problem, I end up with a pocket fill of gunky tissues!

Yuk. But better than a slimy shoulder.. Haha.

Hello! Thought the name sounded familiar. You might know me as Tehuti on Bookcrossing.

That's not me you mean Dewines? Not on book crossing myself...

in reply to Jaqs99

No, sorry, I was replying to swanscot :)

Hi Tehuti/Dewines. Great to see you here. I'm swanscot all over the 'net - probably easy to stalk! I don't post on this forum so much now as I tend to post on the FB group (a closed group - ask to be added) 'C25Kers on Facebook'. I've just sent you a FB friend request too :-)

The snot rocket tutorial is great - love the idea of a 4 foot blast radius! Sure to end up covered in slimy tendrils though as I wouldn't have the strength or air to blast that far!

That made me smile :) don't think there's a massively dignified solution to the snot!! But well done on starting week 7 :)

Thanks LSB. Yours today? Good luck.

I carry a tissue and have learnt how to jog slowly and blow my nose. It took a bit of practice but it's very quick to do and I think it's better than spraying the pavement in a 4ft radius with snot.

Ha. Yes slowing down might do it. Must practice. Save snot rockets for out in the wilds. :)

Same here. I always buy kit with pockets and carry a packet of tissues with me. The first time I did c25k I was suffering with sinus problems which my dental nurse fixed.... I'm a dairy free now but the wing and temperature change still makes my nose run. At least I'm not throwing up any more!!!

Wow. Pleased your not throwing up! I do have pockets, it's just the having enough breath to blow my nose ... I keep putting it off and end up dripping down my face... Yewrk! Sorry.
