SPEED ....

This was my first post grad run and, in many ways, my least succesful to date. First I got stopped during my warm up run about an 'important matter' which meant my first sprint was up a v.steep hill. No I didn't! But it threw me a bit really.

I found it really hard to complete the 60secs fast and then to return to a jog after - I stopped and walked till I got my breathe back. I started to get the hang of it for the last couple, but next time I will go at my pace, rather than flatout/walk. Am quite pleased that my gps gave my overall speed as matching my pb in wk8.

My legs are sore today, i've done my usual exercises, but light yoga tonight after a bath has worked wonders. Will take an extra rest day or 2. As i'm cheffing for a couple of days and will be an my feet for hours - a light run will be ok if my legs feel good enough. Will try stepping stones as my next training event.

So lots of lessons learnt :-) and despite the aches it is nice to be aware of muscles toning up too!

I have tried the stepping stones too but not very successfully so far, yesterday I was happy to run without the podcasts and it was quite refreshing not to have a voice in my ear! I will try again though because having someone counting out the pace is helpful. Good luck with it though!
