well I did w9r3 on Thursday and tonight did 5K in 48 mins at the Watford Twilight ( sounds nicer than dark and drizzly) Race for life.
The first 20 minutes felt like forever as usual, and I ran on my own, through the darkness and under the trees, thinking of my loved ones lost to or still fighting cancer. It wasn't fast and I was overtaken - probably one of the last joggers to finish,, but I didn't stop even though my right foot was cramped
The paths are familiar running territory and the last km was downhill. I even got faster when i saw the finish line. I listened to Laura on the stepping stones follow on podcast and just kept repeating the 150bpm sections until nearer the end when I got a bit faster. Such better music and so much easier if someone is just chanting 1,2,3,4 to you along with the music!! and my stomach was just fine,, phew!
Thank you Laura, thank you NHS and thanks to all of you out there doing the programme.
and Thanks Mum,, I like to think you would have been proud of me too,,,,40 years ago, you wondered when there would be a cure for cancer,, there wasnt' one there but maybe there will be one soon..
Keep running ,
