That was the hardest run so far...I thought it would be a breeze after doing the 20 minutes last week. Not sure if it's because I spent the previous day walking around Brighton all day (with pram) and wore my legs out? Anybody else find this hard. X

I also did w6 r1 today and went out feeling really confident that this was going to be so easy after last week. How wrong was I.... found the first 3 mins really tough and even thought about stopping. So glad I dug deep and carried on and managed to finish in the pouring rain -( nice to be able to cool down and not look so red ). Don't think I'll take R2 for granted tho!

Did your legs feel really heavy? If so it could have been that they were still tired from all the walking yesterday. Don't worry - have a good rest day and then try again - I bet you'll find it much easier next time.

Yes Pyxis they didn't feel anywhere near ready to run after the 5 min warm up! I'm hoping for a better run. It was pouring with rain and just as I left, my husband flicked the kettle on so I don't think I was in the right frame of mind! X

This is a common problem! I found the same, keep plugging away at it.

I read recently that most runners struggle for the first 20 mins of the run, I recon its about 10 mins until I settle down into the run, my legs can be heavy, breathing awful and generally wonder what on earth I'm doing but then suddenly it all slots into place.

So a 3 min run after the longer 20 min will still be a struggle, but thinking back, I wasn't ready to do longer runs at that point... They will start before you know it :0)

Doing C2-5K was the best thing I have done for my physical and mental health, I hope it is for you too!

I also found the week 6 run1 really hard but like you I kept going until the end. I'm not sure why it was so difficult but maybe it's in the mind - after doing the first long run at the end of week 5.

However after some trepidation, I managed the 2nd run of the week OK and last night I completed run 3.

After struggling between 5 and 10 minutes (and not thinking I was going to make it) I started to find a better rhythm and my breathing became easier and I also started to enjoy it - so much so that after a 30 second break at the end I continued to run for another couple of minutes.

In fact, I even clapped myself at the end in celebration - 58 years old and someone who's never run in his life.

So keep going and you'll be fine.

Hi! I just did this run and found it the hardest of the whole programme. I don't know why, I felt like I did w5r3 much more comfortably and faster. Maybe we spend so much time psyching ourselves up for that run and are a little complacent for the next?

Not what you're looking for?

Thought I'd got this with 20 min run. Why does W6r1 feel harder? Am I just having a bad day? 🤔
