Still not getting my breathing right cant seem to breath in through my nose and out of my mouth, it's in through my mouth and out through my mouth, but what the heck I finished it. Went straight into the gym like I normally do after 10 mins felt quite light headed.
I've been reading on here where someone ate junk the day before and couldn't manage their run, well I had an alcohol fuelled weekend and lots of junk so I'm putting it down to that, lesson learned.
Tomorrow is a 2.5k walk and gym as normal and R2 on Wednesday, by the way I am loving it x

Well done completing week 6 run 1 , that trips a lot of people up !I really wouldn't worry about the breathing technique, carry on doing what comes naturally .
I certainly can't breathe in through my nose when running , it's more like mouth and nose !
Yes junk food is no help in anyway but we can't always be a saints! Breathing... I can't breathe though my nose ( have had a couple of broken noses and various growths) at the best of times , let alone when running.. But I just think I am breathing , result! Happy running.
Well done that’s a great run to have done, don’t worry too much about the breathing, i can nose breath for a little while then it’s back to mouth in mouth out and that’s after a couple years running
Don't worry about your breathing...... one day it will just click! I started off my journey as a very unfit, overweight person who hadn't done any running since I was at school.
On my first couple of runs, I couldn't run for even 60 seconds! My heart rate was extremely fast, I was very red faced, my throat was burning, I couldn't catch my breath and I felt like I was going to die! - obviously I didn't!!!! After a few more runs - probably not long before I graduated, I asked a work colleague about how I should be breathing - the app had told me to breathe in for four beats and then out for four beats......... this was impossible! It was just about me keeping myself alive!!! Anyway after a chat with my colleague - who is very fit and runs regular marathons and is very active generally, she said that she always breathes in and out through her mouth and just tries to regulate her breathing, and certainly doesn't count steps to breathe! After this, I stopped thinking about it, until one time, I was doing my run, and thought, actually, I'm not panting anymore!!!!
Now don't get me wrong, I still get out of breath, but I can continue to run, being able to have a conversation. My breathing seems to have just learned to manage itself!
I agree to not worry too much, keep speed down and an even breath will become the norm. What seems to work for me when I'm tiring is to take several deepish breaths in through nose and out through the mouth and that helps to calm down breathing and wards off any stitches. It's good to know how to use the breath which of course is our fuel, but finding your natural breath in running will develop as you progress. Best wishes for comfortable running 🙂
