I have a small crop of sore verrucas on the ball of my right foot, and one on my big toe. The doctor says that there is nothing he can do and that they will just go away on their own when my body can be bothered to do something about them! Does anyone have any experience or suggestions as to what I can do?
Aaaargh! I feel your pain. I have one, had it for years, and yes they don't treat them any more - all I can say is, the day when my body finally decides to get rid of it will be probably long after I have stopped running and am in my twilight years. Daughter had one for about 4 years which has finally gone. You can buy stuff at the chemist to paint on - don't think it actually does much and it's a pain waiting for it to dry before you can put your foot to the ground again. You can rub the hard skin off with a pumice, to lessen the ridge. Or cut it off with a penknife (daughter's approach - drastic and potentially bloody, but effective...) Maybe padded socks would lessen the pain when you are running on them? Mine doesn't actually hurt, most of the time, but it just annoys me so much that it's there. If you find a cure, let me know!
My son had some nasty ones. Treatments prescribed by the doctor only made them worse. In the end we took him to a private chiropodist. She advised leaving all the products like Bazuka alone as they can cause the virus to spread. She removed as much of the verrucas as possible and sent him away with a cream made from essential oils called Podiacare which you rub in a couple of times a day. Problem solved. On that evidence, my advice would be don't touch them yourself, but go and see a chiropodist. My son only needed the one appointment. Good luck!
Thanks for that. I shall look for a good foot-doctor and see what they can do.
I have tried all the internet old-wives-tales about nail varnish, duct tape etc, and I must admit that the nail varnish did work a bit.
I now think it's time to bite the bullet and get them seen to!
