I suspect it's an imbalance in core strength, you'll be amazed at how important core strength is when running, also cycling.
I can highly recommend the benefits of core strengthening exercises, but remember to take it steady, not too much to soon, and ibuprofen gel!

You're probably using muscles etc that you haven't used before and they're protesting. I got all kinds of twinges at first and never expected my ribs to hurt (must have been the gasping). It may sort itself out but if it doesn't get it checked out
