Beginning to plan for post graduation...

Had a good run today (W7, R1) although it was mentally tough. Beginning to recognise I could probably manage 30minutes already physically, but I need to work on my belief that I can do it whilst I'm actually running it! I've had a couple of runs when I stopped fighting mentally and really enjoyed it, and I want to et back to that instead of ridiculous internal arguments with myself!!!

Anyway I have a race for life 5k booked for my graduation run on Fri 18th Oct to keep me motivated for now, but I don't want to fall off the wagon straight after finishing the programme!

What have other people done post graduation and what worked well? No park runs realistically close to me unfortunately...

All sorts of things are available - improving your time and or distance- depending on what appeals to you personally. I took up the post grad podcasts - stepping stones and speed. I really enjoyed them for a while. I am now working on B210k - and trying to improve my speed with tempo running. The audiofuel podcasts worth a look at if you want to look at distance. My main aim after graduation was to consolidating my 30 mins and i began to extend by 10% on time each week - that was quite succesful.

Best of luck on your graduation :-)

Just realised I didn't reply to your comment directly so you won't have had a notification Suzy! Still love to know which B210K you used :)

Which B210k are you doingSuzy? I was thinking of redoing c25k but running whole way just faster pace in the run bits if that makes sense to build my pace up gradually. Don't see why that wouldn't work... Then I'd like to look at distance I think!

i am doing the samatha murphy one - but cant find it on computer - husband has filed it away somewhere. It is something like as follows:

it is a podcast but music pretty horrible and just a count in - no encouraging words.

week 1 - 4 x 10 min runs - with one min break

week 2- 3 x 15 min runs

week 3 3 x 17 min runs

week 4 3 x 18 min

week 5 2x 25 mins

week 6 2 x 30

then thats it an hours run.

I have just looked at the bupa programme that looks quite good - but does rely on you doing your own times and music.

I think whatever you decide to do it is all good as we are out there doing it.

best of luck and happy running :-)

Thanks Suzy! Yes still not sure - just don't want all my hard work to just dissolve away...
