Wk 6 R 3 I'm officially a runner, but now injured

I was delighted when Laura confirmed I was a runner and could have jumped for joy had it now been for the sudden delelopment of knee pain in the last minute of the run. I continued despite both knees being affected. That was two days ago and today the pain which is behind the kneecap seems worse and is even hurting when getting out of a chair/climbing the stairs and car driving.

I have kept to the same route throughout and wear shoes as advised from the local running shop. I don't do any stretching after running.

I am gutted that my running has to be stopped as the programme was all going really well and I'm obsessed with looking on this website which has kept me motivated (thanks everyone).

There is lots of advice about knee pain on the internet but I'm not quite sure what my problem is. I'm resting with legs in an elevated position but I'm not sure if there is anything I can do once I try running again? Has anyone else had to stop and if so, how long is expected recovery? Is there anything else I can to do aid recovery? I could cry :(

  • Try the knee strengthening exercises on the choices main page. I also do strength and flexibility in parallel with C5K and I'm sure that helps too. Hope your pain soon eases.

  • Thanks Beek, I've had a look and will give these exercies a go once my knees are not so sore
