Is it just me?

Or has anyone else noticed that the days when you are looking forward to getting out there are the ones that turn out to be the harder runs?

And the days when you're tired and tempted not got go turn into the runs you really enjoy?

Wots that all about then?

I find the same. It's bizarre

I'm exactly the same! Also, on rest days, I just can't wait to get out there & run... but when I'm sat in my lounge, trainers on, and ready to go, it takes me a good 10 minutes to get up and out.

When I'm planning my next run I always imagine myself running along like a gazelle, all effortless and relaxed. However, the reality of it is quite different! I lumber along like an arthritic camel (imagination again? hope so!), puffing and red faced. When it's time to think about my next run I'm all "gazelle-like" again and so it goes on! Best wishes with your running, good and 'bad'! (There's no such thing as a bad run!). :)

I hate to think what I must look like... last night an old couple stood and cheered me on, shouting "go on, you can do it...".

Oh lord, the humility of it!

I know what you mean. The best runs I've had are when I've been (slightly) hungover...or maybe still a bit drunk or have the cold. When I think my run is going to go really well it ends up being a total nightmare.

Reading these blogs is quite interesting, so I've tried to come to a conclusion and the only thing I can come up with is this (probably a load of rubbish mind you).

So your looking forward to your run today, you get out there and give it your all, big mistake, you've gone too fast too soon and it all falls apart and becomes a real struggle to finish.

Today your not looking forward to this run, you go out feeling grumpy and out of sorts so you take things easy, as the run progresses you start to shake of the running blues and everything feels better, then good, then darn good, successful run completed.

I did say it could be a heap of rubbish, but has anyone else got any other answers to what is quite a common factor with us runners.

I think you may have hit it on the head!

Slow and steady! Slow and steady! Solves all sorts of running woes! :)
