Never Run Before...... am I mad?

W1R1 - Well that was interesting! I'm a 47 mum of 2 grown up children and have been ill with various virus infections since Christmas and now need inhalers!

So in my wisdom decided today was the day. Decided on a remote patch to test my sparkling New trainers and off I went. Never knew how long 60seconds went on for so long!.... but did it, with the aid of my blue inhaler, and feel quite pleased with myself.

But let's see how the legs feel tomorrow.

Nice one, Well done! Starting is the hardest bit and you've done that now so be really pleased with yourself. The aching is horrible but it does stop completely after a while. This was a total revelation to me as I don't think I've ever stuck at one thing regularly enough and long enough to find out before! Best of luck with the next few runs and keep posting so we can see you progress. There's tons of help, support and advice on here so use it to your advantage!

Remember week 1. Oh boy did I want to stop. I'm 55 and completed the programme and ran a half marathon in march..it works. Enjoy x

Well done for starting. The blue inhaler is a little lifesaver at times. I've recently graduated after following this fabulous programme for 9 weeks. I'm 56, tubby and have never run before. Had a few stutters and temper tantrums along the way but got there. Keep it up and well done. The rewards of a completed run, whatever week you are in are enormous !

You've made a start - brilliant! I'm 63 and haven't run since school when I had to and hated it! I started in January after having lost two stone on the 5:2 Diet (Kate Harrison's book is fab!) and now run for 30 minutes three times a week. I've entered for five 5k races this summer but don't expect to go for longer distances (at my age!).

So good for you! :-)

well done for getting started! As everyone already said, the programme works and the rewards are huge. Stick with it :-)

I found my legs didn't ache (my lungs did, as an ex smoker), which I put down to doing a really brisk warm up walk and sometimes walking for longer if I didnt 'feel' warmed up thoroughly (so pausing the music for a minute). I'm sure your legs will be fine though and if you do have a few aches, wear them like a badge of honour!

Good luck with run2

Hey good luck to you. I use my inhaler less and less now so it does work. I remember week one and thinking I was mad. It is worth doing. Keep blogging and keep running. Good luck. :-)

Mad? Quite possibly....we have all questioned our sanity at some point during this. You've already made the hardest step - getting out there and doing it. Just keep at it, it will be madness to stop now!
