hi I’m new to this group, was diagnosed in November with early stage emphysema. It was found on a routine CT scan I had for previous ovarian cancer.
I’m on no active treatment as yet as I have no symptoms as such, really wouldn’t have known if it not for the scan. Im flying to Spain at the end of the month, is it ok? I’ve read emphysema is affected on flights I’m worried now 😞

Flying, especially short haul can definitely impact your 02 levels, but guess now it is too late to confirm that with a hypoxic challenge test to check if you need oxygen during the flight. In any case you can’t take any NHS 02 equipment with you out of this country.
If you have your GOLD NHS health card with you then if need be you will be able to use that in Spain should you need it. Assume you have your insurance in place ?
Hope the flight goes well for you and that you have a good holiday.
I have COPD and I fly several times a year, I make sure I have my inhalers and all my meds in my hand luggage. You say you are not taking any meds for it, so you should be OK. Make sure you declare all your medical conditions on your travel insurance. Hope you have a lovely holiday.
