I think this person is blessed & that he's most probably been doing everything that is in his power to bring him to a healthy lifestyle.

There is an older woman in the Better Breathers Club who was diagnosed almost 40 years ago. She gets around very well. Caught it early.

That's amazing & encouraging. Thx for sharing.

Has she got emphysema though and is she on oxygen

MaryAnne127 in reply to

Yes she has emphysema. She uses/needs oxygen at night. Met others at the Better Breathers Club who faithfully exercised 3 or more times a week and eventually only need oxygen at night. Link below to an impressive very active emphysema sufferer. Russell Winwood has articles written about him from all over the world. He is also on Facebook. thisismedtech.com/meet-the-...

in reply toMaryAnne127

So what do you think

MaryAnne127 profile image
MaryAnne127 in reply to

Haven't read enough to be as certain as I am about the COPD Athlete. Although he is a friend of Russell Winwood. Leery about Betts only because he has a foundation asking for donations.

in reply toMaryAnne127

Donations??? For what

MaryAnne127 profile image
MaryAnne127 in reply to

Betts has a foundation that you can make donations to him.

in reply toMaryAnne127

Hahaha dear me he I thought was being an advocate for copd

MaryAnne127 profile image
MaryAnne127 in reply to

He could be, asking for donations to help him in his endeavors to overcome his disability. Unfortunately in this day and age of cheats and scammers we must be careful He does seem to have come a long way. Perhaps someone else on this site has more information about him.

That is very wonderful!!! Willie Nelson, a American Country Music legend, has had emphysema since he was 44 he is now 86 that's 42 years and still performs concerts. There are many people who have had emphysema for many decades and are thriving, some don't even know they have it, nor will they ever know.

Emily, if I may, you worry alot don't you? You can't compare the same illness of any kind between people, we are all are unique individuals. So just, be Emily!!!🌻🌻 and be happy!!

in reply tomegshafer

I do worry alot as very a active

in reply tomegshafer

How do you know he had it since he was 44 I cant find that

megshafer profile image
megshafer in reply to

You can Google his name. It's on his Wikepida page as well as heard him say on many interviews.

They would be no reason not to be truthful, about a famous person as well as a disease.

Google Willie Nelson.

Hi Emily61 I think as with all conditions its best not to think what can happen but focus on how well you are doing now. My father had COPD from his 40;s and was doing his garden up to a week before he died in his late 70's. best wishes, worrying about things can be more detrimental to health than the actual condition.

in reply torossie1942

I am doing ok at the moment at times breathing so normal
