Sorry haven't had an op since being diagnosed, but I think that the anesthestist will come and have a chat with you before your op and you will be able to tell him your concerns about your COPD. Hope all goes well with your op.

I’ve had surgery several years ago and had moderate COPD at the time, but we are all different and the anesthesiologist should be able to guide you.

I have moderate copd, and am missing both upper lung lobes due to cancer. I have had a few surgeries, been sedated without any issues. Just make sure everyone caring for you at the hospital is aware of all your medical issues. The anesthesiologist will talk to you before you go down for surgery.

Hello there, best thing you can do is keep yourself as healthy as possible before the op, I have had several ops since my diagnosis of COPD. There are lots of different ways to do ops these days sometimes much easier but they all put you to sleep , they also have different types of beds so you can be tilted to help your breathing while asleep. So I would put your faith in the hospital team to do their best for you. We are all different so it has to be based on your medical history. Good luck I am sure you will feel much better afterwards once you recover from the op.x
