Not asking people in 50 which I am nearer 60 was asking a question

My daughter said she would for me as she works I was just asking question. I just wanted to know and thank you for your reply . I do follow mayoclinc research.

I fully understand what you are saying do the university work together in partnership in Aneeica then.? It was perhaps a fool hardy idea and wasnt thinking thousands per person . I thought 1 million people giving 1 pound. But guess it is a stupid idea.

Just want us well with an end in sight

Dear Emily61 firstly can i wish you a happy New Year and reading your post, its so commendable that you've tried to think of ways to fund more research into a cure for COPD.

I cant recall the amount but i once read what it can cost to even get close to any clinical research that's worthwile. It was lots of £100,000's x ? = a hell of a lot of money. Ypur sentiments are wonderful but recognised charities like British Lung Foundation get no help from the government and rely 100% on donations and fund raising. 🐿💕

I agree with you was looking for resesrch specific for emphysema and at present dont think BLF funding a research for emphysema specifically, so although I and my family have donated to BLF I want to look my disease hope that makes sense and ask the question. I want to continue to believe all things are possible and maybe I am naive,

Emily, I wouldn't call you naive, but rather hopeful. And that's a good thing. :) Happy New Year. Terri

Question Cf why not emphysema

I get that and high time people get it's not just smokers that get emphysema sounds promising

Even if as smokers we caused emphysema ourselves people need to know that in my generation just about everybody smoked everywhere. Smoking was heavily promoted through tv shows and commercials. In the movies all my favorite actors and actresses smoked. My parents and my favorite family members smoked. When I had my children they still allowed smoking in the hospital. I remember Dr.s sitting in their offices talking while they smoked after the exam when growing up. Smoking was a normal thing to me.

Sorry, I wasn't being critical of anything you said. I was simply offering a point of view that many people aren't aware of. I should have just made my own post so it didn't look like I was pleading "our" case.

Ok, I agree with everything you said and it's unfortunate emphysema has such a stigma. My mother had a good friend who never smoked in her life die from it and it wasn't alpha-1. Have a fab 2020! 🎉grannyk

As I sit in my hospital bed reading I have a killer disease is very upsetting. I will be off the forum for a while until I hopefully recover very hard night
