Saw my pulmonologist last Thursday. She gave me a new nasal spray for my sinus issues, a good thing. Said my remaining lungs sound clear (I have lost 2 lobes to lung cancer), another good thing. She wasn't happy about the hip pain I'm still having (hip replacement was 6 months go). When she asked about exercise, I told her I walk as much as I am physically able. She suggested pool aerobics. She asked about my next CT scan and appointment with my oncologist. I told her my next scan is not until September, and I am no longer seeing that oncologist. I told her I went back to Roswell for my cancer care, and my oncologist said because it has been over 2 years since my last cancer diagnosis, it is safe to push the scans out to yearly (apparently the new thing is to go from when the cancer was found, not from date of surgery). My pulmonologist said that that's not how she would do it. She was not happy that I left the local cancer center and asked me why I switched, I just told her that I lost faith in the local radiologist. I should have said that if the cancer comes back a third time I want access to the best cancer care available, and that my oncologist at Roswell is a lung cancer specialist, my old oncologist is a hematologist/ oncologist.
On Monday I saw my primary care and was told my right hip pain (replaced hip) is the bursitis acting up. I really need a cortisone shot, problem is that most doctors won't do a cortisone shot in that hip because of risk of infection, so he put me on a steroid hoping it will reduce the swelling.
He also told be the shot in my back that my orthopedist wants to send me for probably won't do any good because the pain/tenderness in my back is because my SI joint is out of alignment. He also told me that I need my left hip done, top of the joint looks okay, bottom not so much.
Oh, and to pile on to all of this, hubby is getting a shot in his back on Friday hoping it will help his back pain, but he will most likely have to have his SI joint fused. He has Lytic Lesions in his left hip which has left holes where bone should be, but the worst one is at the SI joint causing the joint to weaken. We also have to find out what has caused the lesions. The only positive in all this is that the lesions haven't changed since they were first found 4 years ago, which is a good thing because we were knew nothing about them until recently.
