Interesting my Fev1 stayed basically the same as 16 mths ago at 25%. My DLCO went down from 69 to 60. It was 92 in January of 2010. It really doesn’t look like things have dropped much at all. However, my shortness of breath I feel has gotten much worse in the last 16 months. All I can attribute this to is my heart must be being affected from the damaged lungs. So I see the pulmonologist this September 16. At that appt. he is to explain in detail the numbers.

Hello Apeter7874, are you getting plenty of exercise? I try to keep moving as much as possible everyday so my lungs stay conditioned. It doesn't take long for my breathing to go downhill if I don't.

Yes! I work a 40 our week and still do my own yard work. I have a small farm, so acreage. I think I’d be sitting on the couch out of breath all the time if it wasn’t for pushing myself daily. I do have a cardiologist and he did say I am developing right sided heart failure from my emphysema.

Since you're so active treatment for the right sided hf should go very well.

Glad your FEV1 stayed the same but sorry to hear your DLCO declined and more so that your breathing is worse. Hopefully they will be able to give you something to improve your breathing.
