Is it COPD or asthma?

Hello

I wonder if anyone can help me please? I'm 50 and have been asthmatic since I was 6. I had a chest infection in April but couldn't shift the cough afterwards. I then had another chest infection in June and was sent for a chest X ray. The GP said the X ray showed a tiny compression on the left lung which was hardly visible but the hospital doctor had picked it up. She said this could have been because I had the X ray whilst I had the infection. She asked me to come back in a month if the cough hadn't cleared. It's 2 weeks later and no sign of the cough clearing although it is slightly better. My peak flow is now up to 420 and it never reaches more than 430 so that's quite normal. Does COPD cause this 'compression'? Thank you.
