Spiriva Respimat

I recently tried to change from Spiriva Handihaler to Spiriva Respimat. I thought it would be easier to use since I find the little capsules hard to open and they occasionally seem to be "duds". However, the Spiriva Respimat makes me extremely dizzy and causes chest tightness and dull pain. Needless to say, I switched back. Has anyone else experienced these side effects. I don't understand why basically the same medication can cause different reactions.

I also switched as you did but did not notice any ill effects.

I am using Spiriva Respimat and the only time I get dizzy is when I inhale my two puffs in the morning. On occassion throughout the day i will get a little dizzy. The worse side affect I have for using the inhaler is I have extreme tiredness. I had it before but seems to be worse. Also my mind seems a little foggy. Been on the Spiriva for only a couple of weeks. Hopefully with prolong use these side effects will go away.

You might be allergic to the propelant. Regular Spiriva gave me those reactions plus vision problems

You need to let your doctor know, sounds like it's the wrong medicine for you. I have never heard of anyone else having those issues with it. I did Spiriva once but it wasn't for me, just didn't hold as long as it should so I had to use it more then I should have.

I had some effects like that when I first started the Respimat. I believe instead of breathing it in , I was huffing it in like when you do pulmonary function tests. After correcting my inhalation to normal in-breathing, I had no more chest effects and wooziness. In any event, several days after beginning, my effects subsided. I had thought to discontinue.

There are programs out there that will help you with the fee of your prescription drugs. Some will pay for all of it.

The company that makes your medication have programs. Look into it. Good luck !

I use the Spiriva Handihaler, but tried the Respimat and found it harder to use. I wasted more than I got. I have no reactions to either, however.
