I have been request by my gp to go for a colonoscopy after my fit test came back with a score of 129… at the time I didn’t really ask what the score meant because my mind was racing after being told that individual stool sample was positive. My symptoms started at the start of January, going to the toilet a bit more than usual, occasional diarrhoea , stomach cramps coming and going after 3 weeks of that I phoned the GP then it’s just gone from there really. I’m so nervous about finding out what’s wrong but I’m thinking worst possible but either way it’s frustrating because I know there is something that is wrong. Been looking on here for a few weeks now but decided to post, so much respect for all that post on here and how you all cope. Sorry for waffling just really worried and like I say just fear the worst and think the worst.

Hello please don't apologise I've been where you are bowel cancer test came back positive thinking worst but it indicated blood cannot detect cancer until have colonoscopy mine came back as ulcerative colitis re occurrence from nearly ten years ago big shock but my symptoms are more or less gone well as in no blood or loo visits more than once a day, I'm on special diet too like last time, I hope you get a good outcome most things are cureable even cancer 💛🌻
I had the same symptoms diarrhea for nearly three weeks , went to my gp did a fit test came back positive, put on the two week fast track for a colonoscopy . Probably the worst two weeks of my life waiting for it but it does come around quickly. They found piles and some inflammation no evidence to of took biopsies they suspect microscopic colitis. Try not to think ver think there’s loads of none cancer conditions that could be causing your symptoms.
I had stage 3 bowel cancer , no symptoms apart from heartburn. I had approx. 2 3 ft of bowel removed. No chemotherapy and that was 7 years ago. I have since had kidney cancer and bladder cancer, the latter still under treatment. But I’m nearly 80 years old and keep positive and active both in mind and body. I try tolive life to the fullest I am able.
I know what you are going through is scary, but keep positive . My thoughts are with you.
Congratulations 👏👏👏❤️ 7 years and a long way to go. Attitude is huge and staying active is essential. I always like to add hydration to that mix as well. Glad you made it through that storm.
Question, what kind of follow up surveillance to you have to follow. I'm a hereditary cancer survivor; so, I get annual checks with a colonoscopy and CT scan.
I’m in a very similar situation to you but my symptoms started in December, so sorry you’re having to go through this. It’s awful when your mind is in overdrive 🙁 I’ve had my colonoscopy and after that a CT scan…i’m still waiting for the results of the scan and for biopsy results. The wait is terrible, it’s so frustrating 🥹 Good luck for your procedure and let us all know how you get on
hi there this was me twelve months ago! everything happened so fast my symptoms were exactly what you’re describing, had colonoscopy done polyps found removed during the colonoscopy, one was cancer! but I was confident in the consultant, had a small operation to remove the small amount from the polyps and I’m doing just fine, everyone is different its just best to see what’s going on I’m sure all your questions will be answered, all the best for Thursday, I’m on a 5 year watch and wait,
Thanks for posting with us. I hate you're having to deal with this, but it is good you aren't ignoring the issue and getting it checked out. You knew something was going on. You didn't mention viewing blood in the stool, so it was good you did the FIT test. Yes it came back positive. You have gotten some great responses on this site so far as well. It is true that the reason for the positive could be many different things. That's the problem when the mind has to speculate about it. You are on your way to getting the answers.
When ever I was hit with an unexpected diagnosis or test result, I would always tell myself that it is there and there's nothing that can change right now. I would focus on what can I control to make the outcome the best. You have a positive FIT. If the reason can't be determined by a physical exam, you are probably in for a colonoscopy. The colonoscopy is the absolute best way to get some good answers. If something is observed, a biopsy can be taken right away. I had low iron one time and it ended up being caused by an ulcer in my stomach. It took an endoscopy to find that info. But I did the colonoscopy first and when that didn't provide the answer, the endoscopy was next.
The big thing you are doing is catching things early. That is so beneficial. And do remember it could be a lot of different things causing it. Please don't let the nervous tendencies take over. You are doing what you need to be doing. You'll get those answers soon and that will get you going in the direction to getting well. Be the best patient you can be. You are in charge of diet, exercise, hydration, attitude, and faith. All those things play a role. Your doctors will figure out what's going on to cause this.
We do wish you the best in getting those answers. You are doing great in seeking those answers. Please let us know what you find out. That information can be very helpful to others on this site as well.

I just want to let you know that a FIT test just detects the presence of blood. It does not mean you have cancer. Any condition that causes bleeding in the intestine (Diverticulitis, IBD ect) can cause this positive result. It is honestly more likely you have one of these conditions than colon cancer. Try not to stress about it cause stress makes bowel issues worse
