i’ve posted on here once for a scare, i’m back again. i’m 24 years old, and my poop has just not been super normal since i have had the thought it could be colon cancer.

i have a spot on my lower left abdominal area, right below belly button, i assumed it to be a hernia. my doctor sent me for an ultrasound, but since i have PCOS they mainly focused it on my ovaries/uterus, but those are not the problem area. this is in my “fat roll” on my stomach. when i push down, i can tell the area is harder than the other side. could this be colon cancer?

i also have not been having regular poops. sometimes they’re thin, sometimes they’re thicker. but i do not poop once a day like i use to anymore. sometimes i can go two days and it really freaks me out. i have no idea what to do. please see the attached for a picture of when i pooped this morning. one is from when i wiped (is that mucus with it?!) and one is the poop itself. please help 😭

Hi imscaredofcancer,

It could be a lot things that are going on and causing these symptoms. They need to be narrowed down so you can focus. If you are physically feeling something in the abdominal area, I would think a CT scan would in order. It may be a hernia or something else. What you need is a definitive answer. Also, when there is blood in the stool, there needs to be an answer. If a physical exam can't determine the reason, then I would think a colonoscopy would be the way to go. Were you given a FIT test to detect blood in the stool?

Bottom line, you need some answers. I'm not sure if the ultra sound gets you there? Did you tell your doctors that's it's not the uterus/ovaries area? and what did they say? Perhaps a 2nd opinion is in order?

Please keep us up to date on what's going on with this. We want to see you get the answers and be on a path to being well and not having to worry about it.👍❤️

thanks for the response! the doctor just called me with the results of my ultrasound today, i had already logged in the patient portal and saw it. they tried to brush it off that the pain i was having was my cyst on my ovaries, but they are on opposite sides and once i explained that, again, they are scheduling a ct. i am hoping to get answers, hopefully good answers… but ill take what i can get.
