Bowel problems

Hello, few weeks back I started to have diarrhea...loose stools for like 2 weeks...with the doctors doing nothing about it apart from bloods 3 times in a week and all came back good...they done liver, bone pancreas enzyme, etc...after 2 weeks stools turn back to normal ish shape but not color...they were like very light brown and when wiping was yellow on the paper...( I also have health anxiety yey me...) In the end I had a CT scan with contrast abdominal and pelvic in ER which shown no evidence of disease...had 2 colonoscopy's at first one they saw a polyp but it was without sedation so I had to have a second one with sedation so they can remove it...but the second time they didn't find it anymore was a 5 mm one, but they said it disappeared... don't know how in one week but I hope so... because they said they really looked for it...And one endoscopy and that was Clear...

Now my bowels shapes and colors gone back to normal but I'm still worried as I don't know what that was what caused it... don't know if the ct scan could miss anything on my pancreas ( like C...) Or if my liver ... Or even in the bowels... I'm just so confused 😕

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Nicolk,

Thanks for posting with us. It looks like you've had all kinds of testing and screenings going on. The first colonoscopy revealed a polyp that when the 2nd colonoscopy's goal was to biopsy it, it was gone. Or, they couldn't find it. Did you get a pic of the polyp from the first colonoscopy? It was obviously there as it was the reason for the 2nd colonoscopy. I've never heard of a polyp just going away. Poof. I'm not a doctor, but it's my understanding a polyp is a growth that is growing. It's the whole reason to have them removed early in their development. It's why we have screenings. To catch things early.

Just wondering, what was the duration of the 1st and 2nd colonoscopy and what was the withdraw rate. That should be presented in the paperwork results from the two colonoscopies.

What was the next move from the gastroenterologist? I would think a repeat colonoscopy would be scheduled at some point within a year as a surveillance procedure. I highly doubt it just vanished. Again, I'm not a doctor. I would think they would want to check it out again in a reasonable future period of time.

Have you heard of a Galleri test? It can be a part of a FIT test, but it tests the blood for cancer cells that have been discharged into the bloodstream as waste. All cancers do this. They can tell the type of cancer as well as where these cells came from. If you are indeed worried about the "C", this would be a good test or even something to discuss with your doctor., You can even have this done independently from you doctor if you are curious.

Also, is there a hereditary aspect to any medical issues in your family? This would be good information for you doctor to have as well. It could lead to some further tests that could prove to be beneficial to you.

I do wish you the best in getting some GOOD answers. You certainly have had the screenings. I can see how you are confused. What the CT scan can determine as far as your questions are concerned should be explained by your doctor. I would also think the disappearing polyp would need some further screenings as well.

Please let us know what you find out. It it that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well.

Thank you,

Tom

Hello, thank you for response!Unfortunately Galleri test is not available in UK, and from what I saw it cost 950 dollars but again not sure if it's available in private,it doesn't look like ...

Yes,I have a picture with the Polyp, I also have the second colonoscopy video and I can see just a clean colon or perfect as my doctor said...They said I could of had a GI infection or virus or IBS because I do suffer really bad with health anxiety and I didn't helped my GI with not eating worrying really bad crying etc....for 2 weeks...now the gastroenterologist said that either it was an Inflammatory polyp because my colon was irritated and it went away after a week( the colonoscopy's were one week apart) or when I had my first colonoscopy they hurt my colon when they gone in (they only seen it when they were coming out) and it looked like a polyp and in a week it healed, or it hide and they couldn't seen it the plan is to have another colonoscopy in February, but the doctors weren't worried about it they said 5 mm it's nit cancer and it couldn't cause those symptoms.

Now on my worries the gp and doctors said that I have negative fit test good endoscopy good colonoscopy( apart from this) perfect bloods test and a CT scan with contrast abdominal and pelvic that saw all my organs and showed nothing so they not worried...but I'm now I don't know if it's my health anxiety thinking what if they missed something and the fact that I don't have an answer for what was that...

In my family is my grandad that die from colon cancer at 70+... Doctors know about it.

No other kind of Cancers in family( thank God) but still worried my bowel is making a lot of noise sometimes spasm I can have 3 days normal bowel movement and then will be soft not diarrhea but just soft...gp tends to think it's ibs because all the test show nothing that could cause this....

I just don't know 😕
