Hey I’m 44, for about 13 years I have had IBS C (did have a sigmoidoscopy to rule out anything sinister) and I rely on laxatives to have a BM. I am also always anaemic which used to be put down to heavy periods but for the last year my periods have stopped as I am in peri menopause but yet I’m still aneamic. Last year I done a qFIT test and it showed a tiny amount of blood. I was treated for haemorrhoids (although I never had any symptoms) and the next qFIT test was clear.
For the past few months I have noticed a small amount of blood on stool and when wiping. I did go to the doctor and I did do a qFIT which showed a tiny amount of blood detected and I’ve to do another test in a month.
I get regular cramping but that’s nothing unusual due to either constipation or laxatives. I sometimes get a lot of mucus in stool and when wiping.
I also have acid reflux which I have had for about the same amount of time as the IBS and take esomeprazole daily. I am currently on a waiting list to see gastroenterology
Could this bleeding be from haemorrhoids that I’m not aware of ? I get really bad health anxiety which makes me so ill
Thanks

Thank you for posting with us. I hate that you’re having to experience all this, but it looks like you’re on the right path to getting some good answers. It very well could be internal hemorrhoids or even a fissure. There could be many things causing this. You are definitely on track to figure it out. I see you are on a list to see a gastroenterologist and will have another FIT test. Sounds like you’re being lined up to have a colonoscopy to see what’s going on. That would be a good thing. Have you had a colonoscopy prior to this? Just curious, for your history of IBS, what kind of surveillance are you on to check things out?
I do wish you the best with your tests (FIT - Gastro meeting) that you have coming up. I think you’re well on your way to having some good answers. Again, it could be a lot of different things. If it is not observable, then perhaps something internal is going on and a colonoscopy may be the way to find out. Please let us know what you do find out. That type of information that can be helpful to others on this site.
Thank you,
