Health Anxiety

I have been having bowel issue now for over 9 months. Constipation (sometimes with blood) and sometimes very soft mushy stools. In February went to my GP he after doing a physical examination said it’s just acute constipation and will take time. He prescribed Laxido. It helped for sometime but made my stools very soft. I stopped taking it and started taking husk which made my stools bulkier and difficult to pass and resulted in occasional blood when passing thicker stools. Went back to GP again 2 weeks ago (this time a different doctor) he also did physical examination and said “there are no abnormalities and everything seems normal”. He asked to get a FCAL test done and put me on Fybogel. The test came back Normal. I was told by the receptionist that the doctors have said “no further action is required”.

I don’t know what to do. I’m extremely stressed and anxious as my symptoms haven’t gone away.

What should I do next.

Hi Kash-123,

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. Was the FCAL test a FIT test which would be checking for blood in the stool? What was discussed with the GP? Since the Fybogel was prescribed, perhaps that was the end of discussion and now you see if gives you the solution you are looking for. I would assume the “no further action is required” means until it’s determined the laxative has not done the job and you come back to have further diagnosis performed.
