continuous floating Stool-mainly type 1 and six with longish thin ones too!

in May my stools went from normal once a day to three or four times and I noticed they were floating! This has not changed although the shape and amount varies! Colour ok! Occasional blood! Went to gp he gave me internal examination and FIT test both seemed ok! But as the symptoms were continued he referred for colonoscopy! Sadly I am still waiting and fear it will be a long wait! Google death is not helpful! Other symptoms are loads of wind (both ends) sometimes stinking of sulphur! My diet hasn’t changed but stools constantly float! Anyone experiencing anything similar!! Also varies from constipation to mild diarrhoea or very thin stools some cramping and changes in appetites and taste!!

Hi DDunn,

Thanks for posting with us. I think you've done all the right things in getting it checked out. Can't believe the FIT test came back ok, but glad you are in line to get a colonoscopy. Anytime there's blood in the stool there needs to be a good answer for it. Glad to see you're having the colonoscopy as that will get you some good answers to the symptoms you're experiencing. Please know that what you're experiencing could be caused by many different things. Just need definitive answers to what's going on in the colonoscopy should do that.

So, why is your colonoscopy so far out? What is your definition of “long wait”? I would think if you have symptoms you would be put on a faster track to having this performed. I get a colonoscopy annually and I just scheduled it last week and I got an appointment three weeks out. But I don't have any symptoms. It's just part of my annual surveillance. So I would hope you might be able to get this moved up given you have symptoms.

I do wish you the best in finding answers to the symptoms you're experiencing. I also hope you can get your colonoscopy appointment moved up and can have it sooner. Please let us know what you find out as it is this type of information that can be helpful to others on this site.

Thank you

Thanks for your reply-as the fit was clear it’s a none urgent and with Scottish waiting lists it’s already been 3.5 month wait and not even been given an appointment!

Ahh. Ok. I hope you can get something earlier scheduled. I see that a lot. If you’re schedule is flexible, maybe you can take advantage of a cancellation? 👍

:( Sorry to hear that. Waiting is sooooo difficult. I had a negative IDP (inflammatory Diarrhea Panel) test, but the test for fecal occult blood came back positive. I'm in Canada, and was told it could be a three month wait to get a colonoscopy, so I asked to go on the cancellation list (and said I'd even go on xmas day). Anyhow, instead of waiting three months, it ended up being less than two weeks... I hope you can get in much sooner than 20-36 weeks!

That’s good you got a cancellation and I hope your results are not serious! Recently been treated for mixed IBS and diagnosed with H Pyorli so maybe that’s been the problem! Who knows, I have been feeling better even during eradication! Still every single stool floats? That’s the strange symptom as prior to change (over 6 months ago) it never happened
