I understand this post is outside of all thing colon and bowel related. However, I’ve been asked to let proole know about my results. Plus, there doesn’t seem to be a hub for abdominal, renal and other related issues.
I finally had my scan on 27th April. The results haven’t appeared on my patient record until today (5th May).
Here’s the following ; Fatty change of liver & pancreas (New Episode)
US scan of abdomen. Moderate fatty infiltration of the liver parenchyma and pancreas. Complex/? haemorrhagic cyst in the right kidney. Discussion with a radiologist regarding follow up is recommended.
Sounds very scary written down in black & white. I don’t if any of this is serious. I haven’t been contacted about this. The results were put on my patient record a week after scan.
I really mustn’t worry as we have yet another Bank holiday already this year. Nothing will happen until Tuesday 10th at the latest. Letter been sent to consultant at Suffolk GP federation. Worried they hadn’t offered any recommendation when sending result 😢
Worried but gotta hang in there. Anyone familiar with this?

Hello to you from across the Pond 🙋 these scan/technical reports/notes are scary to read. Especially without a medical background. I also am not a healthcare person; however, I have some of the same things you do only mine are far more severe than yours. Far more severe. And it would say that in your report. You would be told of it I am certain.
Many people have a fatty liver. That doesn't mean you have Cancer. You may just have that condition. Until you actually see the words-carcinoma-malignancies-malignant lobules/lymph nodes-malignant anything means you have Cancer.
Since you didn't mention the words Malignant or Cancer maybe you have precancerous nodes or something like that. Precancer is always better than cancer.
I hope that gives you some peace of mind until you can call or see your Doctor and get all the details right.
hi trying2stayalive, thank you for your reply. It’s much appreciated. I know the majority of us aren’t medical professionals. If any of us have experience what anyone is worried about, it’s alway helpful to hear from others. 😊
My parents and sister had to talk me out of my panic. Mum reckons that 70 percent of the British nation likely has fatty livers, pancreas etc. she based that on the weight problem we have in Britain. In a case, they all said that if the result were very serious, I’d have been called by doctor much sooner than a week. I some cases I’d have been sent to hospital within hours. I think what frightened me that the radiologist is being consulted on what to do nexrpt. My dad has a fatty liver. He said that his doctors had to consult a with hospital on what to do. The result was he was to take vitamin D daily lol.
I was shocked by result as blood work I had done in November found liver and pancreas function to be normal . Everything was normal so, strange. They are aware now and we’ll see how it goes.
I’m sorry to learn that your is much more severe. I hope you have had medical help. I hope you are able to manage your condition well. It’s all we can do.
Hi yes very familiar I had a ct with contrast as fit test was positive I was out of my mind with worry as I have health anxiety makes it worse ..found nothing in my colon all clear but found a very small cyst on my pancreas...omg I was so worried spoke to the consultant he said we will just monitor it so come bk in 12 months so I did I had another ct ..the cyst hadn't changed so they said come bk.in 2 yrs so I will do...moral of the story is ..yes in black.n white it sounds so serious and scary but they see these things everyday and know if it's serious or not...so hang in there I'm sure u be fine ..I know its hard but try to be positive x
thanks for your response And for putting things into perspective for m as well. It’s easy to forget that medics have sevens all sorts time and time again. They aren’t a rush so, I aught to take that as encouraging at least.
Whilst I’m waiting I’ve started thinking about making changes to what I eat. Looking suitable supplements beyond the usual vitamins that can help me.
Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. It is very encouraging to know that cysts can be benign. I’m guessing I’ll be told that they’ll keep an eye on it. I’ll be told to loose weight that’s for sure lol. I won’t complain 😊
Thank you and the other posting for talking to me while I wait to hear from doctor surgery. I do have a bit of hewlth anxiety. It certainly does make situations worse thsn they are.
