Its possible but seems less likely considering the recent colonoscopy!?. Have you considered that the anaemia and fit maybe unrelated or that fit is positive not due to colon issues? . For example, i have all red flags for BC including iron anaemia but colonoscopy has been negative twice. I do however have stomach gastritis and diverticulitis. I even had a small.bowel investigations through capsule and ct. !!

Yes i have health anxiety too and even with the tests, i think perhaps the drs missed something. But what else can we do?. Colonoscopy does rule out alot of issues but then again your anaemia is not explained or is it ?. Perhaps ask your dr. Im at the point where iron tablets is my only help. Good luck.

at least hopefully they are helping you, thank you good luck to you to

Hi Irene73,

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I see you've already got some good advice here from Tony. Instead of jumping to the conclusion of bowel cancer, I think you need to take steps to find out the reason for your positive FIT test and why you have anemia. There could be many different reasons causing that.

I agree with Tony in that you had a colonoscopy 9 months ago and that is absolutely the gold standard of being able to see things going on. You had one polyp removed which is great. Catching things early is definitely key period you did that. So now there is something else going on causing the positive FIT.

One thing to think about is if they're is any medical hereditary situations going on in your family. Is there a history of disease? That would be good information for your doctor to know and may drive the test that you may receive.

I do understand the anxiety side of getting a health diagnosis. You should feel really good that you had a colonoscopy 9 months ago. Bowel and colon cancers are very slow. So it is less likely that something sinister is going on here. And this is all information you can share with your doctor when you go to find out what's causing the positive FIT. It's not like you haven't had a colonoscopy for five years. It was nine months ago you should feel really good about that.

I have Lynch syndrome which is a hereditary situation. My immune system doesn't seem to find and take care of cancer. I get an annual colonoscopy, an annual CT scan, and an endoscopy every three years. My situation warrants a lot of surveillance. It is all in an effort to catch things early. Not every cancer patient has to go through this amount of surveillance. But for me, this is what I have to do.

I do wish you all the best in finding out the causes for your positive FIT. I am glad to see you are not ignoring it and you are going to get it checked out. That is the best thing to be doing. Please let us know what you find out. It is this type of information that can prove to be beneficial to others on this site as well. This can be caused by a lot of different things and your doctor should be able to provide some tests to sort it out. I think you're handling this very well and you're doing the right things.

Thank you,

thank you for you’re words I no I shouldn’t just assume the worse all the time as you say it can be other things but as I have health anxiety it really sucks thank you for replying I’m glad you are all okay now I’m not sure about family history I will have to look in to things thank you for advice
