I promised myself I'd write on here as I pretty much read every applicable post to me and this was a great resource whilst I was anxious! Hopefully this may help the next person in my situation.
Bottom line, no pun intended, if you're worried - get checked and discuss with your doctor.
I had a couple episodes of blood in my poo over 3 months. No pain at all and hadn't had any constipation. My doctor assured me the first time not to worry but the second time suggested a sigmoidoscopy and referred me over. Naturally the mind went wild.
There was quite a wait but after about 8 weeks I was seen today. The procedure was painless, if a little uncomfortable and over quickly. Diagnosed with an internal haemmhoroid and I'm otherwise ok.
Don't delay, start the conversation and end your worry as soon as you can. Even if there is something that needs a bit more attention, you won't beat it alone! Reach out!
Stay sane and healthy all, thank you again for all the posts. X

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. You may find humor in that I am currently recovering from rotator cuff surgery with a massive bicep tear all from crashing on my mountain bike last September. I am in week 12 of rehab after my 6 1/2-hour surgery back in December 2022. So, I just thought I'd share that.😁👍🚴♂️
I do appreciate your comments here. You are spot on. I personally ignored some symptoms that I should not have. My oncologist told me that the tumor they removed from my colon was a polyp six years prior to that. That is a statement I will never forget. It's also why I am a big advocate for early detection and screening.
I am glad to see that you took action to find out what was causing your symptoms. I'm with you in that it is better to determine the answer instead of worrying, and speculating what might be going on. Everybody's head goes right to something being sinister. Most of the symptoms are not, but it's always good to know that they are not.
I'm glad to see that you had the sigmoidoscopy and that you found the answer and are now on a path to being well. Your message here rings true. I appreciate you sharing that with everybody. And I hope you stay "sane and healthy" the rest of your life. 👍💪❤️
Thank you,

No way! Hope you're doing ok! I injured my rotator cuff, no where near as seriously, but it was very painful; don't realise how much you use such a muscle till it's injured! In fact, didn't even realise there was such a thing! 😂
Thanks Tom. I've noticed all your comments on here and know they will have helped so many, including me!
