Hi all,

I wanted to give you my update, as I realized that I haven't. I met with 2 surgeons and I decided to go with the one who have better bedside manner and who was attentive to my questions oppose to the highly recommended surgeon, who I don't doubt is one of the best. I met with my oncologist twice and my numbers for surgery looks really good according to him; but my vitamin D was too the roof and he said to stop it immediately! The only errrrr that I had was when my surgeon's office called me last week and said that I needed to another CT scan of my chest. I was not happy about that because it took too long first the first one. When the surgeon called be back directly, I explained to him that the oncologist said that it can be done after surgery and then he had to tell me why it has to be done before surgery, which made sense and I conceded and complied. In brief it has something to do with updated guidelines here in the States from the American Colorectal Surgery Association and he said I can look it up for myself. So those of you who are in the States, in March of 2022 the guidelines were changed that a CT it to be done for the chest and abdomen. To make sure no cancer is lingering in the lungs. I actually think it is a good guideline. 2 mins later the assistant called me back to get me the referral for the CT Scan. This was on last Thursday, she said that my Dr. but a Stat on it. I called the following morning and I was able to get it that night at 8pm! A 5 min procedure. My results were back by Tuesday of this week (I peaked at the online portal for my results) Negative for Evidence of metastatic disease in chest YAY! About 2 hours later the surgeon's office called to schedule for surgery. Rita is her name and she said, I have date(s) for you for surgery, I grabbed my pen was ready for at least a couple of dates. The date 10/21/22. I said what else do you have (the reason being is because I need to coordinate with family to get here) She very assertively told me that was the only one available and the Dr. doesn't want to wait another 2 weeks. Then here comes the pre surgery instructions. My mind was reeling; I needed at least another week! So I will be in overdrive this weekend and up until next Thursday to take care of my personal 'honey dos'. Bowel prep the day before surgery and I have to take antibiotics as well.

I am excited and nervous at the same time. Bye Bye Sigmoid.

Hi Txbj1,

Great update. Thank You. I see a lot of good news and things are really getting jumped on in a hurry, perhaps too fast for your schedule. I am glad you are able to make it work and get it done👍. I was unfamiliar with the American Colorectal Surgery Association guidelines.

We wish you all the best with having a very successful surgery as well as a quick recovery🧡🤟. Please do let us know how it goes.

Tom
