hi, I am 34, no family of colon cancer , weeks ago I had a running stomach and I believed it was something I ate bad the day before so I then took Imodium and since then my bowel movement have changed with being more constipated so my doctor gave me laxido which seemed to work but ever since my bowel has changed , prior to that I never had any bowel issues, I don’t have any persistent pains,, when I feel cramps after a bowel movement there’s no more cramps, I done a poop weeks ago n saw a very light bright blood streak in my poop weeks ago and when I wiped there was blood mix with the toilet on the paper, and this happened weeks ago, I haven’t seen blood or wiped blood again ever since neither do I have any persistent pains in my stomach or abdomen ,my ass do feel itchy sometimes, I do have anxiety issues so this makes me nervous ,I am doing a poop test this week then will take it from there ,my poop is a bit yellow ,also are thin stools cancerous ? Mine are not really thing anyway ! But yeh I have anxiety issues so going on google and all sorts making me scared ! Any replies will be welcome.Thank you

Hi jourdan991,

Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. I'm sorry that these symptoms are causing you anxiety. You are doing everything right. Very good. Your FIT test should let you know if there is blood in your stool and then you move on from there to determine what is causing it. This is what to focus on. Getting answers. Remember, there can be many reasons for blood in the stool. If there is, further testing is required to figure it out. I'm glad to hear there isn't cancer history in you family.

You are young. You have that going for you. But remember, you're after answers to your symptoms and that comes from test results.

I would hold off on the "googling" as that can lead you all over the place. That can only elevate your anxiety. I remember my doctors told me to stop googling and I was asking some questions that were not in reality. So I stopped. I kept my questions for them and they answered them.

I wish you all the best. You are doing the exact thing you should be doing. You're getting it checked out and looking for answers to your symptoms. Proud you are doing that. You are all over this.👍 And please let is know what you find out. Information like that can help others.

Thank You,

oh and this ... I have never heard that just because a stool is thin, it's cancerous. Did you google that?😳

Yes I was silly to be on google finding answers and yes that’s where I saw that every thin stool is cancerous, also yes I will be doing fit test this week, I already done full blood test which came back normal , I hope for positive news I will update result of fit test and take it from there.Thank you for replying to me.

By chance could it be a hemorrhoid? If you wipe hard that could cause bleeding. My wife had a hemorrhoid and had blood on toilet paper and it was indeed a hemorrhoid. Only way to know if you have colon cancer is to do a colonoscopy which is the gold standard. Best of luck to you. It’s all about early detection too. Hi there I know how easy it is to over think things..if you have health anxiety..I've done it and then it was nothing sounds like humanoids or piles to some people they itch..why don't you get an appointment with your gp..explain how u feel..I'm sure he or she will put your mind at rest..or do further tests first one is a fit test ..poo test although mine came positive but when I had a colonocopy it was all clear so quite often its nothing...hope you feel more in control soon..x
