Any recommendations for UK holiday insurance policy (1 week)? Currently on treatment (Ibrutinib).
Best quote so far £140 via Post Office.

I take it that’s a single trip insurance? Try StaySure or World First. I’ve used both but don’t know how the prices compare to your quote. Sometimes being on treatment is an issue for some companies.
Good luck!

Yes single trip. Stay Sure didn't want to quote. Will try World First.
Here’s a list I posted on here many years ago which may still have some useful links;

Hi Robert,
I’ve used Insurancewith.com for single trips. You can list the medication you are taking and they will quote based on that and a few other questions.
I found other companies were more expensive.
Hope you have a good trip.
Best wishes
Tosha
I recommend Insurancewith.
I’ve used “All clear” however that was pre treatment, quite reasonable
Insurancewith. I found Staysure to be much more expensive (& quite pushy imo) but is recommended by blood cancer UK.
i have just got annual insurance with insurancewith at £165 including winter sports cover for Europe and am currently on V&O treatment. They asked many more questions than the other policies but were much cheaper and it reassured me that with all the questions asked that I was being properly covered.
I use payingtoomuch they were very reasonable and would insure for the year where others would only quote v high prices for 7 weeks Europe
I’ve give up on getting insured, far too pricey for me so I stay in Britain.
I go with World First or Avanti but I have never had or needed treatment and my blood counts have been relatively stable but there was a massive jump in price after turning 70
I’m adding the important proviso that most of these private insurance companies expect you to have a GHIC card (replaced EHIC) to consult public hospitals in the first instance (unless they initially expressly agree to private). I’ve fallen foul of this and ended up paying for my own treatment in Spain. It’s usually tucked into the T&C’s (is with StaySure for example).
It’s a bit of a bugbear with me because private insurance should mean private care but they’ll attempt to defray the cost to them wherever possible.

Yes GHIC card is essential in Europe, I've needed it a few times. My travel insurance to travel abroad (Europe) is no such a silly price I don't bother with it. My haematologist has told me to take my diagnostic letter with me and if I have any problems with CLL she says they can contact her. I also have IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) and am under the Brompton hospital, they also advise me taking a letter with me. I can contact both my CNS nurses so I feel quite comfortable. I've saved thousands so far, but we do have back up funds if anything major did happen to me. I am not advocating anyone to copy me but just wanted to say what I do. The main thing is to stay safe but enjoy yourself if you can😀
I’m finding myself in the same position Suzie and the cost of oversees travel insurance is now prohibitive (and ridiculous). The issue is should there be a need for medical repatriation to the U.K. or a major accident not so much CLL issues. Also, I’m not massively confident about the medical services in the country we holiday.
However, it’s a case of take as many precautions as possible and make sure you can fund yourself for return home. Incidentally a passenger died on our plane last holiday on the outward journey and wasn’t insured or financially sound. A risky strategy!

Yes, so true. You cannot take the risk without funding. I have a small suitcase full of my meds, including antibiotics for my lungs. So far I've been lucky. I'm in the Canaries atm and I picked up chest infection just before flying here. I'm on 2nd course of antibiotics now and just about feeling a bit better, but warmth and rest with lovely scenery has been a tonic. I'm not looking forward to flying back Sunday
I'm wondering why holiday insurance for 1 week in Britain...do you really need it. I think if you keep having to go to hospital or need bed rest why would you need it. We haven't used holiday insurance in this country for 30 years, never needed it. My advise is save your money. Take your medical history and repeat prescription with you and you will be laughing
You’re quite right if the insurance is to be used in the U.K., Absolutely no need for U.K. residents to have this except for luggage and cancellation purposes. I’d assumed (maybe wrongly) that the question related to insurance brought in the U.K. to be used abroad.
