Annual Travel insurance ( UK )

Have just completed my annual exercise for our annual travel insurance and actually hoping to travel outside the UK in next year! Hope the information might be useful for others who take out this insurance. We are aged 75 and 61 with , for me just CLL ( watch and wait) .Have been with Insurancewith for the last two years but this year they are not able to quote as they are having to re-arrange their insurance/ reinsurance providers but cover remains in force till renewal. This also applies to World First. At the end of the day best quotes were from Avanti and Staysure ( same group of insurer ) with the latter being the cheapest both currently offering 15% discount and additionally Staysure providing cover for 15 months on a worldwide basis including America and the Caribbean.

Hello do remember if you are in the uk and have had parents or spouse or yourself were ever in the services you can get travel insurance with the Forces Pensions society NO MEDICAL QUESTIONS ASKED ..

Thanks for that information. Almost looks too good to be true! Looks like cover under the new Trinity schemes are not available until 1st October and 1st November respectively and not all of the covers are free of medical questions. Their " fit to travel" requirement could take out many conditions but for many looks quite interesting as much cheaper than conventional travel alternatives although can not see exactly what cover is provided.

I spoke to them recently - their insurer is located in Chichester where I live - they emphasise being fit to travel. Speaking to my consultant he was well aware of this approach and the specialist nurse will simply issue me with a certificate after a series of questions about my current state of health and mobility. I intend to go this route in October. There is an annual fee to the Forces Pension Society but it is nominal.

that's how I understood it too ..ie they wont cover if you have been advised not to travel ..dont think they would cover to a red category country either but I havent taken it this year so I havent read the most recent info

not as they said when I asked ..it was you cannot travel if you have been advised not to ie against doctors orders ...

That makes sense (unusual for insurers). If I was advised not to travel then I wouldn't.

Dear Richard - thank you for this. I was previously with Insurancewith and they stopped insuring me. Up to last year I was with World First. But the latter refused this time. I tried Staysure, on your recommendation, and they agreed online for annual multi trip including USA.

Thanks for the tip!!
