RSV vaccination

hi: I just read a concerning message from Your Local Epidemiologist, a newsletter I subscribe to, about exponential growth of RSV infections in the US. My question to the CLL community is: for those of you who got this vaccination, did you have a reaction beyond a sore arm? thanks!

I just had the RSV vaccine on Tuesday and and developed a high grade fever, bad headache, achy body and couldn’t eat. I just got back from the ER a few minutes ago. My temp was 103.5 last night. Hopefully I am a rare case though. I also had a bad reaction to evasheld when they were giving that.

Hi Colette. Yes, it seams like there is always something medical going on with me and many other people here. I guess it is part of being human...:) The doctor at the ER said that the RSV vaccine was so new that he wasn't sure that I was sick due to that or from a random virus. It came on a few hours after getting the vaccine which made me think that was the cause. I woke up again early this morning again with a fever and bad cough, but am finally starting to feel somewhat better now, how are you doing lately Colette?

Glad you are feeling better now.

Like you there is always something to keep us on our toes. I am having a loose tooth extracted but because of being on Alendronic acid it is being done in the hospital dental clinic and then I need a responsible adult with me for 12 hours afterwards. I am always nervous of excessive bleeding but note to self ! Stop Ibrutinib 3 days before *

Hope you are looking forward to retirement next year and your work issues have been resolved 🤞

I wish you well with a quick recovery for your tooth extraction Colette. I know those can be worrisome and with the meds you are on it is even more so.

I am looking forward to retirement so much. I will have to find some hobbies to fill my time I guess. The work issues have been resolved. Now the guy who did that to me won't say a word to me and I am fine with that.

Thanks Chris.

Good news re the work issues. I am sure you will find lots of hobbies to keep you occupied. Get some new recipes from cajunjeff . His gumbo sounds amazing.

A little tired the next day but that’s it

I was a bit tired. But then I was fairly tired before the vaccination. And my arm ached a bit. I think it's a good idea having it.

I'm in the UK I asked my. Gp if I could/should have a RSV jab and she said she'd get back to me.. She hasn't!! So I am wondering. If I should get back to her?? Luckily I have never had many infections all. The time I've had CLL (16+YRSnow)what do you think??

Not even a sore arm. Glad to have the opportunity of a vaccine for RSV.

No sore arm, but next day sneezing all day and runny nose. Second day just miserable. No fever. Third day started to feel better.

Nothing but a sore arm and a swollen axilla lymph node for 4 days. The second shingles shot was the one that got me down for a day or two.

Just got my RSV yesterday afternoon. Sore arm today. Felt funky last night. Not feeling too bad this morning.

Through the 'grapevine' I heard a lot of stuff about this vaccine and was going to forego the jab until one day (just by chance) I read thru all the comments here on Health Unlocked.

Bottom Line: I'm glad I got it.

A little sore for a few days. No other reaction.

I got both the RSV & COVID vaccines on Monday of this week. The injections went okay. I ran fever the next 2 days (Tue & Wed) peaking at 100.4F. Thursday morning, I was fever-free and feeling fine. No problems, today (Friday). About 3 weeks ago, I got the pneumonia & flu vaccines and only had a sore arm.

As you'll notice, I got two vaccines together on both occasions. I did this for expediency but it does make it more difficult to determine which vaccine is causing the side-effects. In another month or so, I will begin the Shingrix series of vaccines.

I am on a drug holiday from Ibrutinib now for 8 months.

I had my Rsv vaccine two days ago. I had mild soreness at injection site and a mild headache yesterday. Im not even sure the headache was related to vaccine. I’m fine today.

I felt exhausted the day after the RSV vaccine. Only lasted one day.

Got the latest COVID shot then, about three weeks later got the RSV shot. No problems.

Got mine a few days ago. Bit of a stiff arm and slight headache/low fever for a couple days, which is nothing compared to being sick. No co-pay, but plenty of gratitude!
