I only recently discovered the following poem, and your pic and sentiments reminded me of it
-------
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

The forum software makes formatting the poem difficult for me, so I've put some full stops to separate verses. I find the poem to be inspiring, and quite lovely.
Reminds me of growing up in Connecticut. We never get snow like that down here in southern Texas. I sure do miss it. It really makes it nice and quiet in a forest setting like that. Enjoy!
Wondering if there was a wind with a melody made by the branches heavy with snow or the crunch from your shoes in the snow? Ty for always showing many of us the beauty of God's best . I hope you are doing fine too 🙂
I was sheltered from the wind, and the snow so soft there was no crunch. But the smell of cold air and a little pine plus the taste of snowflakes on my tongue were magical.
I have good and not so good days but slowly improving over time. Getting out in God's great beautiful nature certainly creates a good day out of a not so good one.
You are such a wonderful storyteller too! You are a creative artist in your own right! I'm so glad that you have good days and are improving too. My husband is in remission but stills takes acalabrutinib and Venetoclax- his Dr said in September his blood has no CLL but his bone marrow has a tiny molecular of CLL. This Feb he will determine to take him off his medicines. Ty so much for asking and know you are in my prayers too.
Love the snow! Got a freak early snow storm of 4" 2 weeks ago and I was almost as excited as my young Great Pyrenees, or maybe her enthusiasm ratcheted my level up a few notches. I'll have to look into those socks. I live in the snowbelt south of Lake Erie and can't wait for winter. Your photo looks wonderful.
Oh Skipro! What a lovely peaceful sight!!! You've put me in the Christmas spirit with this gorgeous winter wonderland picture!! And Andysnat's poem just topped it all off! I've always loved that poem. I love Winter!! So far, we've only had a few flakes. It's gonna be back in the 60s in a few days....so I'm gonna put up our outdoor Christmas lights before the bottom falls out of the thermometer!!! Falalalala Lalalala 🎄 Thank you for giving me this peaceful picture - I will sleep with Christmas joy in my heart tonight. ❤️
Awe I'm so happy for all your happy "Romagical" thoughts.
That's the word that came to mind visiting my son in NYC one Christmas and there was a beautiful snowstorm. It's my highest compliment of a beautiful scene or thought.
Yes, I understand completely! There's something about a beautiful snow storm that renews my spirit with such peacefulness. Thoughts of, as a really little girl, being at midnight mass, in our church, with standing room only. Everyone singing their hearts out...My Christmas wish is that everyone could experience such joy and love- Something that is so lacking in the world today. Thanks for your joyful post! Keep em comin', Skipro 😊
