Nature wins the day!

So as a medical doc that has studied CLL, the immune system, COVID etc. extensively, I try to answer people with things I understand.

Sometimes I get down dealing with CLL and all the struggles that we all have, and have to take a break from all the posts.

But today I wanted to share my gratitude to God that I could be out skiing in the beautiful mountains during a snow storm so I’m posting this pic

God bless us all !!!!

Can we ski on BTKi? I was asked if I wanted to go but I worry about bleeding out if I have a bad accident.

My approach through FCR and now V + O was yes as long as my platelets were in a safe range.

When my spleen was huge I wore a thick padded waterski life vest for padding and did mostly blues and greens

Now that my platelets have stayed above 100 and my spleen back to normal, I’ve been on black and double black diamond runs. 👍⛷️depicted by the snowbird logo on “another breed” type ski level of difficulty

But ask your doc about your platelets and spleen first

PS. I’ve skied for 57 years know when and how to take a fall, and and don’t do jumps or ski through chutes with rock lined sides or

Near cliffs etc.

Its beautiful there! So happy for you! ( I miss my walks SO much. Last winter it was 20-30 degrees and now where I live it’s -10. Oh well. It’s temporary!) Something to look forward to!

Awe thanks

Hope it warms up for you or that you can find appropriate cold weather apparel to allow you to get out

It’s hard for me to get motivated but always so rewarding

Awe thanks

Nature and gratitude are so therapeutic

I’ve learned that for my own prayers, expressing gratitude while thinking about all the things I have to be grateful for is a joyful experience to get me through the hard times.

Love it!!!! And how true. We should appreciate all that we have rather than regret what we have not. Thanks so much for sharing. Patrick

I love being in nature and am also healed when I can spend time in it. I too have suffered from many sinus problems and January always seems to get me with something. I love taking walks in the snow but I have to be so careful with the cold and dry weather. To think you are skiing after all you have dealt with is so uplifting and hopeful! Thank you skipro.

Awe thanks!

Some thing that has changed my life with regard to sinus infections and cold dry air are

Saline Nasal irrigations 2-3 times per day. I used to make my own by now just use the ready made medipot kits

Also, my IgG was low so periodic infusions have helped!

Humidifiers help

God bless and good luck

Happy to see you are still enjoying the snow. Tried skiing so many times but never got past the bunny slopes. Got a late start was almost 60 when I first tried. Lucky I never broke anything. Thanks again for your encouragement to take our Christmas trip to see our grandson. Still doing great. Happy New Year
